i have a auto 328i, it has triptronic but its confusing, there is 1,2,3 gear and then drive. when i am in 3rd i can not go back to 2nd so i was wondering if i am doing something wrong, i heard that it is used for different stuff like sport more, snow, towing etc. how does it really work?

your 328 doesn't have step tronic. It has the 5 speed auto tranny with the a/m modes. When your in default (A) mode, and you put it in the 3 position, it is for the "sport" mode, because it allows you to rev higher before you upshift, so basically if you're racing, or just want a tad bit more power, put it in 3 to take off.

If you are for example in icy/snowy conditions, u can push the M mode and put it in like 2, so i starts out in 2nd gear so you try not to get as much wheel slip, etc...

1, i think you'll just stay in 1. Not 100% certain, go test it out and compare it, you have the auto tranny on your 328

Rip out that crap & through in a Manuel thats what real men drive with bumper to bumper traffic or not.
