| "MiniCannonball Run" Event...CT to FL... 8-1-03 I just read about an interesting event in my local paper. There is a "first car wins car rally" starting from Marcus Dairy in Danbury CT (near the Mall) on August 1, sign ups cost $200 on July 19/20th at Marcus. They say it's 'not a race' but...I think some may interpret this in different ways. The first car reaching a town outside Tampa Florida wins $4,000.00 Hmm, maybe I should enter this thing. It's about 1200 miles and you take any route you want, no extra gas tanks, tickets are your own responsibility. No checkpoints other than the start and finish. I'll see if I can scan the article. | Post up some more info. I was thinking of heading to florida that weekend to see some family. Guess it could be more fun racing down!

| Damn that would be sweet, I am moving down to Tampa very soon so I should wait for this. Make some cash along the way, I always wanted to do a Gumball type race it looks like a lot of fun. |

| man, another person from ridgefield, my past coming up to haunt me, haha. Stan, how old are you, i lived in ridgefield about 4 years ago, then moved to chapel hill. PM me or email me, maybe we can get together before the race, i havent been back in ridgefield in 4.5 years, need to meet back up with some of my old friends! |

| I don't see this happening, you cannot give prizes for first place on public roads. That's how gumball and players run gets away with it, it's just a rally and they never give out the places.

| I haven't scanned the article yet...but all questions will be answered at the registration I suppose. The article hadn't much detail. Registration is July 19-20 at Marcus Dairy in Danbury, CT. Other than gas and people stops it's basically a quick event...1200 miles means you just sleep while your buddy drives. I don't know how they can give a first prize on a public road event...maybe the lawyers will mess it up. They say it's "not a race". Maybe that's the key phrase. Cept folks might show up having averaged 80 MPH including stops for gas and guys in uniforms. Stan |

| Only new information I have so far is that registration is from 10 AM until 2PM Sat/Sun the 19th/20th of July. (at the Marcus Dairy in Danbury CT) HTH. Stan |

Danbury, huh? I think that's an easy cut over to I-84....I've driven the Boston to Pawley's Island corridor more times than i can remember, and ive taken every route conceivable. My advice is to go through PA. It's an extra 80 miles (btwn CT and DC), but saves a lot of time (no tolls, no cops, no potholes, just scranton and harrisburg) |

| It took me just about 20 hours from Springfield, MA to Pensicola in an V6 Explorer, pretty easy trip. We just took I-95 all the way to Virgina then took I-85 down thru Alabama. |
