Lightbulb Why are Supras soo Pricy?

I just browsing on ebay saw this bad boy but i couldn't understand its price tag.
Granted this car is just insane and is fast as hell (797RWHP, 9 SEC) and there is a lot of work that has been done to it.
But still this is a 94 with 87500. Its being sold for 40k. Now i am assuming the reserve is set at 45K or 50K?
But my question is 94 supra no matter how many mods it has worth 50K?
I don't mean to put supras down..i love the cars and i am a big fan of them. What do you guys think?

Rare.

Those parts aren't cheap either. Body kits, large rims, and the engine work they have don't come cheap by any means. Thats what I think.

But Mods cannot increase the retail value of the car. Retail value is based on the car as a stock auto not as a modified one, unless somebody knows and appreciates the work and is willing to pay for it, it just seems a little too steep to me

Supras have always been pricy... and it seems that after "The Fast and the Furious", prices were pushed even further up....But, they're definetely sweet cars....I just don't know if they're worth all the $$$....

Uh try to buy a 94 Supra, they are about 20-40 grand, and with the insane amount of mods done to that particular one it would cost tons of cash $$$$$$$$$$$$$ but they are worth it if you want to race some people.

Yes and no...
Before TFATF, when I was looking to buy a car, I could get a MKIV Supra Turbo from around $13-$15k. After the movie, the prices doubled, if not tripled. But they are in high demand, no doubt.

Also, about mods not increasing the price of a car. That's not true either. Sure, the seller will not recoup all of their investment, but as long as the modifications are desirable and functional, it will increase the value of the car. This is where the Kelly Blue Book or NADA don't really help. If you walked up to a NOPI show winner and offered him Blue Book, you'd be laughed at.

I think you hit it right on the mark. I guess it boils down to supply and demand.
After the movie the demand just sky rocketed for these cars.
I mean think about it would anyone pay 50k for a heavily modified 95 M3.
BTW does anyone know the MSRP of the 94 Supra when it came out.

they were around 47 ibelieve also theyre are about only 7000 turbos left in the nation that havent been wrecked. i have been wanting one since 5ve been sixteen. ididnt get my firstcar til after fatf unfornately after that the prices skyrocketed and even today the prices still appreciate.by the way a flawless 94 goes for 24 and that auto tranny is not the stock tranny. these cars also cost much because they makemore hp per dollar than any other car on the market, spend a grand and your looking at around 500crank hp(oh yeh im still in the market for one)

Back in the day we had a supra... The mom did... It was a 94 black targa Twin turbo 6mt. Sticker was 48k and some change... We picked it up for in the 30's because it was sitting on the lot with 3 others all turbos but automatics. I can remember that day because both of my parents when it comes to buying cars have this number in their head and they want to get the car at that price... We walked away with it for around 38 because it was early 95 and it had 600 miles on the clock. We got rid of it in 99 for the M3 and traded it for 26 with 22k miles on it.

The main reason in my opinion is the moive fast and furious on why it just went up in price and demand. The cars have bullet proof engines and can be FAST and put out wonderful numbers on the dyno... My other reason that goes along with the moive reason is that when people bought these they made them fast and if i was a betting man I bet crashes and totaled Supras went up since fast and furious came out... eliminating even more of the limited amount that was already out there.

I loved that car and wanted it BADLY when i was 16 but the parents no way would have put me in that car...

everytime i see a supra on the road (which is not too rare in florida) it inspires me to work harder in school. Seeing it in photos and in real life is not comparable. Honestly, i probably woudln't be into supras if it weren't for F&F, the movies made them shine!
