NEED HELP Autothority Chip

I have a 95 m3 production date 6\95, and I was looking into getting a chip. So I found a guy selling a used AutoThority chip from his 95 M3, chip # 01.S50.105R, and we worked out a price and I decided to call Autothority before sending money. Sooo.... The guy at Autothority told me that if your M3 was made 1\95 on that the chip had a special security code, that matches the cars, and if I bought this chip it would not work in my car, and my car probably wouldn't even start? He also said that I could buy it and bring it in to them and they could reprogram it for my car for a mere 200 bucks! Just wanted to know if this is true, or if any of you have done this, or if I should get the chip?

im just talking bout the autothority chip
