reply The clear lid is cosmetic, i like it because you can see whats going on inside, Im having the inside powdercoated blue. We can use any material for the lid from stainless to carbon fiber. The filter is in the bumper and feeds the airbox via a 3" tube . Read the entire thread it has more info. ![]()

I can appreciate sarcasm What i ment by seeing the inner workings is that you can see the velocity stack, where the air is coming from, the quality of the welds, the curvature of the stainless etc. ![]()

btw, how much are you going to be looking under the hood to notice the 'velocity stack'...

I know their point My point is that I like the way it looks, and its for other people to see. I wont be looking under the hood hardly ever but at shows and autocross events the hood is open frequently. When ever some post pics of their $800 carbon valve covers, or other engine compartment cosmetics etc. do you post "btw, how much are you going to be looking under the hood to notice the carbon valve covers"? ![]()

| The intake should work well from the velocity stack to the plenum. The bigger question is what are you doing to minimize the flow restriction from the ambient air, through the filter panel and connecting hose to the under hood box? How much filter area do you have compared to a cone? One neat thing about your set-up is you can vary the position of the velocity stack in the box to tune the system. Hint hint.

Thanks for the comment mpovshrd We use a large cone filter in the bumper, with a 3" aluminum tube to feed the box. We are going to up the tube to 3.5" wich will flow better but wont be able to use the aem bypass.

cf v/c's save lots of weight... sure... ![]() that thing is just a huge ugly box underneath your hood, it would annoy the hell out of me, and it takes way too much precious under-hood space just to throw a worthless box into the mix... it seems like a worthless (PITA) thing to do... then again it's your car... ![]()
