| Harmon Kardon stereo with a neo jukebox? Can it be done? Saw this ad on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43947 Their direct wire kits say BMW, I emailed them waiting on a response. I think this kit (obviously putting a bigger hd in it) would be awesome for putting the din display down where the sunglass holder is (modify it a bit to line up correctly). Anyone wired it up with the harmon kardon stereo or known anyone who's used one of these? I'm worried about the quality of the sound. |

| i have no experience with the neo, but i can tell you that the phatbox from www.phatnoise.com is incredible. i got a demo of it at bimmerfest. it's awesome. the stock radio recognizes it as another cd changer, so you press "CD" once to get to the changer, then press "CD" again to get to the phatbox. from there, you use the STOCK RADIO BUTTONS to scroll through all the MP3s (or .wav files) on your HD. you can sort by artist, title, genre, alphabetical, etc. this was by far the cleanest option for an external MP3 HD. no external remotes or anything- just plugs into the stock radio. the car i heard it in was an E36 M3 with HK (i believe), but it had the CD43 headunit out of a late Z3, plus stealthboxes. not sure if it had the factory amp or not. sounded GREAT, even with MP3s.

| The best spot to buy them from is their original site which is http://www.ssiamerica.com....I know Best Buy has been selling them for a while, but i suggest buying them from the original site...Those guys are pretty cool about selling their product and servicing it if God forbid something would happen...I installed the HD's myself yes...Very simple...Just set the hard drive to single....you have to have your computer off when you dock the catridge into the bay...when Windows starts back up the drive in the Neo appears as a regular drive in Windows Explorer and you can drag and drop as many mp3s as you want...And there's no limit to how many subfolders you create...I've had mine for 3 years now...I have about 6700 Mp3s on mine, and i'm running a Maxtor 40 Gig... |
