| how to get jspec to pass emmisions? Im still thinking about buying a j-spec 4g63 turbo for my 1g GSX, but I dont know anybody that I can slip money to, to get it to "pass" innspection. So how do you legitimately, but temporarily, get a j-spec to pass NJ emmisions?

| all of my friends with j-spec motors all passed emissions over here in illinois by welding 3 cats on a exhaust that they had laying around or if you have an AFC you can run the car lean but that may be a little dangerous.

| U would definatly have to put new cats and go to a stock engine, but then after that u can soup dat up hardcore. what i would suggest, is to take it to a shop, have the engine taken out. then sell that one to someone who would know how to make it pass emissions, then use the money u made from the engine to get a crate engine. |

| The motor that I have right now does not even run, and is gonna cost me more to fix than buying a rebuild j-spec, so just taking the stock engine though then swapping is out of the question. Thanks for the idea's about the multiple cats i have more than plenty of those lying around...

| With no offense, but swapping engines isn't that easy or cheap. That's just stupid. GSX- I have heard of people stuffing their cats with steel wool to catch some emissions. I am not sure about it's effectiveness though. You can also run a USD ECU (if possible) or like mentioned run really lean using an AFC. Try checking the regional forums and maybe they can recommend a shop (if the tests are done at privately owned shops).
