The M6 is similar to the 6 much like the M5 is similar to a regular 5 and the M3 is similar to a regular 3 coupe.

Never say never Tom. Who's to know whether BMW will release an M7. I bet 5 years ago no one thought the flagship S class would be a turbocharged beast capable of 0-60 in 4.3 seconds (Car and Driver). BMW will surely look at ways to narrow the performance gap between the 760Li and the S600. Let's not forget how successful (and unexpected) the E38 740i Sport was. That old BS that an M car has to have a manual gearbox is clearly no longer the gospel as SMG (I think) has already been confirmed as the standard gearbox for the next M5.

I think it would be great if BMW unleashed a 600 HP 6 speed clutchless manual short wheelbase 7 on the world. At the very least, I expect to see a 7 with the full spirit of M behind it (a la 850CSi being almost an M car) if not with the actual tricolor badge.

I would think the Product Manager of BMWNA would know. And he stated there won't be such a thing as an M7 at the BMWCCA meeting this past Friday.

There never was an M7, and there never will be. Go drive the Sport Package 745i/Li and you will see why there is no need for it either.

Not to mention the 760Li. Pure insanity. Near M5 performance with ultimate luxury.

That's fine and dandy that the 760Li present near-M5 performance. What we're lacking with BMW is 600 horsepower which a close-competitor is offering in a V12 with biturbo. Yes the 760Li is cute and big but holds no candle to a S600. True mercedes stands out in most minds as luxury over power... but alas they have released a totally new concept. Both. The 760Li has power... but not 600 horsepower worth. Perhaps an M7 will come about. And if "there never was an M7" well, that's why the future is unpredictable.

the future is planed ahead in the business world, yes there will never be a m7 its not in bmws image to do that, hey when i hear about a 760 beating a heavily worked m coupe i start thinking wow mabey theres no need for a 600 hp lux car

It would be kinda cool to see an M7, but then you have to think how will they make the 7 into a proper M car without losing the luxury and ride comfort that the car was designed in mind for? I know the M5 is very comfortable and yet still has tons of power, but to really make the 7 an M7 they'd have to do a lot more suspension work and then it becomes a choice - do you want tons of power and adequate handling or tons of power with great handling (thus making it a true M car) but then losing out on a great riding car? It's hard to say - the new 760Li is absolutely sick, I honestly don't see the need for that much more power in a 7 series. If you really want something that runs 4.3sec get an M5 or a Ferrari or something similar - hell they'll end up bein around the same price as an M7 if it was ever proposed!

if BMW can find a market for an M7, they will build it... but i think the m5 is more then enough for an M car and luxury.....


and besides i hope they dont make it, it would make the ///M badge lose its true meaning
