Online Schools

i was wondering what everyone thought about online schools, or taking online courses? good idea? bad idea? and to keep it from getting to broad lets say in the computer field (ex. computer science, IT, engineering) stuff like that... although opinions of other classes are welcome.

i've just thought about signing up for some, but wanted to get a general opinion before doing so.

good: set your own hours, you can work around whatever schedule you need


however, nothing beats classroom time and face to face contact with professors. if you're serious about getting some education, take a real class. if you just want to mess around, get some extra courses, online is a good way

ive taken online classes... good way to learn BUT the real class is better... if you need to just finish some classes, its a great idea.. but your real classes toward your major should be in a classroom...

what about these schools that are offering degrees, not just certificates, but diplomas, like the university of phoenix online (which i hear is real expensive) also, American InterContinental University Online offers Bachelor's of Information Technology, and others. sounds interesting

Online classes are convenient and all but it lacks the discipline of going to a physical classroom. Because of this I was often doing assignments at the last minute and such.

what tom said. its hard to remain focused when you dont have a set schedule, at least for me.
