| THat is complete bull shit. I work for a BMW dealership granted I have seen some screwy things. I think they SHOULD HAVE replaced his knob. BMW NA should not be getting involved unless they are going to correct the dealership. A woman I know came into the dealership last summer and she had an X5. Well the handles on the interior are painted. SHe was upset because they were scratched and the paint was peeling off. BMW replaced all the handles for free. It was under warranty but that shocked me considering SHE SCRATCHED THEM WITH HER RINGS. I also do not know why they wouldn't replace the shift knob. The dealership doesn't loose any money when its under warranty. BMW NA reinburses the dealerships.

| Wow, that's absolutely shocking that BMW NA was paying such close attention to their forum. I wonder why www.bmwm5.com is of such interest to BMW. Perhaps they started viewing the forum for marketing research but have since decided to collect dealer/warranty reconnaissance. Coupled with the fact that BMW NA is demanding their domain name, I'm seeing a very different side of the Marque.

| What a load of crap. Talk about wanting to keep good ends with your customers, thats a bunch of BS.. Seems like all of BMW seems to have been taking a downward swing for a while, I sure hope they get their act together before long. |

| hahaha, this is great! Yes they are allowed to do this. "right to refuse service". They cannot however, refuse warranty work but if another dealer or location can service your warranty work and they are in reasonable proximity they MAY be able to refuse warranty work as well (not likely to do so however). So let me see if I got this correct. You decided to post something about a BMW dealer in a negative light and they are just supposed to take it? wow. I didn't see the post and even if it was JUST THE FACTS depending on the words you used, you could be sued. (libel). Lets assume you don't meet the definition. Even in Forums people have been sued for what they wrote. BMW is VERY proud of their namesake and their reputation and I think they would protect it. PR? public relations? lets see, someone roasts a dealership and the dealership refuses to service requests from that person? thats bad PR? I'd say thats good, cut your losses, don't give that person more fodder. Now, having said all that. I don't go to the dealer. They lost my patronige a long time ago. They wouldn't do an inspection of a car they didn't sell. So I went to a very respectable BMW service company and they did an EXCELLENT job. Too bad for the dealer, they litterally lost more than 8000 dollars in work to this other non-bmw dealer. They also lost a $5000 engine problem job from a friend and probably at least another 10k in other standard referals just from me. no joke. Let me get back to the roasting a dealer thing. If I said that you should all download Mischief 3000 from Kaza and not pay for it, Even on another board, I would bet that Dado would not be too happy and instead of it saying Porn Cinematographer for my title, it would say Banned. Right to refuse service... Anyway, I am definately not advocating Kaza, it is just a point, don't ban me! ![]() btw here is the definition of libel. Even if you don't think you did it, you can still be sued and even if you win you still may have lost money in time and lawyers fees. One more thing, I do think it was shitty that they scratched your shit. This happens all the time to me. I check everything. I had one place tell me it was scratched (paint) before. I laughed and let them know I had just driven it from the paint shop and showed them the receipt. They promptly changed their story. Libel - Published material meeting three conditions: the material is defamatory either on its face or indirectly; the defamatory statement is about someone who is identifiable to one or more persons; and the material must be distributed to someone other than the offended party; i.e. published; distinguished from slander.

| If I didnt like the M3 (E36) soo damn much, I would move right on over to Lexus and get an IS300 (too slow damn it). I'v got a friend with an IS300, he took his car in for sevice, and when he picked it up, they had messed up the leather pretty bad with something they put on it (some kind of leather protectant). Do you know what they did? They gave him a BRAND new IS300 when they could have simply just replaced the seats. Also, my friends mom with her GS300 has had amazing service as well. Not to metion, since I am only 18, when I went to stevens creek bmw to look at E36 M3's on the lot, they do not pay me ANY attention what so ever, and if they do, it is some kind of joke like haha you can't afford that, or, so you gonna buy all three of them? At lexus, the second I step foot on the lot, I have a very nice and imformative sales person ready to help me with whatever I want or need. I just wish the IS300 was a little faster... |

| JsnE36M, I only hear good things about Lexus dealerships. It would be really nice to buy an M3 (possible) from a Lexus dealership, just to give them the business they deserve.

| BMW is fairly prestigious and IMHO lexus is the underdog or at least that is how they act as a company and at the dealers youwent to. (this is a very good thing for customers). Unfortuneately there are VERY few 18 year olds that can affort a M3 on their own (ie, not daddys money), however there seems to be more time for 18ish year olds and some salespeople under stress of making their rent or mortgage since they are pure commision usually, can't affort to waste time with someone who isn't buying today. Instead they may focus on a buyer that demographicly is more likely to buy today. Not tomorrow. Thats the way it is. However if you are a buyer and not a time waster, you have a MAJOR advantage. Since they are less likely to take you seriously etc etc. you can use their attitude to work a deal. Once you freak them out, they will bend over backwards. I have dozens of friends with BMW's and they are all GREAT guys, well except that one guy. hahahah anyway, VERY few in the age bracket you are talking about, purchased a M3 or any BMW by themselves. What I am getting at is that if your parents are buying they generally don't want to pay M3 insurance and they aren't with you so it's not a buy today type of deal. Also it seems that in the earlier ages of adulthood most of us don't know some isht. Like insisting to talk with the same salesperson so they get the commision instead of using someone new on the purchase date. Eventually you will be old enough that they wont leave you alone on the lot and then you wish you were young again. ![]() Sorry, I don't know how you could pick a toyota over a fine german engineered vehicle. ewwww. no offense to Lexus but common, Hyndai's are made in the same place. (close enough)

| 1st, you are are using daddy's credit if you get a lease cause you cannot sign a lease under age 18. So you pay the lease payment, that is definately cool, the gas, the insurance, the maintenance. all cool. 2nd, you might want to re-think doing the lease. There are really only 2 reasons to lease. If you have a business that can write off the lease cost as an employee perk. (although you would then pay income tax on the lease amount but much better than paying it in full). 2nd you can't afford a real payment so you bend over and take a lease. Generally leases are VERY bad. Just ask anyone here. Unless you get one of those FAKE leases where your buddy works at the dealer and you can get 4% interest and no deposit, and 20k miles a year, and you can return it whenever and it comes with maintenance. hahaha. I had someone tell me that they had that, I just laughed. Good car though!
