| New wheels, lots of shaking i recently got new after market wheels, not designed especially for bmw, and the steering wheel vibrates between 40-50mph. the thing that bothers me is that ive gotten the wheels balanced twice(within one week), and have also put the centering rings on my hubs, and still have the shaking. although it has gotten better after the last balancing. what else could be the problem? do i need larger centering rings? btw its a E30 on 17x7's if that makes a difference |

| -wheel balance still not right -bent wheel -out of round tire -centering ring problem try swapping the fronts and rears (if possible) and see if it diminishes.

| I also agree, you most likely have a damaged rim or a faulty tire. If I were you I would get it looked at ASAP just in case there is a possibility of a blow out.... just to be safe ![]()

| You could have a tire stretch problem, this means a certain area on the tire has been allowed to stretch the littlest bit, if this happens the tire won't hug the rim properly and will start to give u the jitters at speed

| Does someone test the wheels only on the balance machine to see if they are strait? If so. Does the rotors are clean. Out of rust or debris. Does the tires are news. Flat spot on tire come from an excessive braking, a defective ball joint or a defective tie rod will give a lot of problem. This can be solved with balancing but i'll still not perfect. What is the result of balancing. i.e. The worst wheel. Is this coming from the front or the rear? Use hand brake to test rear and brake pedal to see if it worst or the same result.

| thanx for all the suggestions. i got the tires balanced for the second time at discount tire and i'm sure a place like that wouldnt screw up a balancing job. its not a rotor problem becuase the stock wheels still run perfectly. another problem i'm having, which is probably unrelated to the shaking, is that after i put the hub rings on a couple of my wheels rattle like something is really loose and i have no clue on what that could be, do i need larger hub rings or something to cure the shaking and rattling? |
