I Think I'm no Longer Allowed to Drive

Yea well its always bad news coming from the iCedMaN isnt it. Well this past weekend me and my friends were driving up to the Hamptons to a house we rented out. So we are all excited driving. We take all the highways we are going fine, then we reach this open 2 lane highway with no traffic. Me and my friend who has a 3000gt SL, started to go at it and were speeding. We would gun it every once and a while seeing who would win, of course he would. We hit 125 at one point it was so much fun, but in the end proved to be so stupid. Behind us our friend were following 4 other cars. 2 of which were also speeding. Next thing we know my prom date who was in the car with me goes Mike the cops just made a u-turn on the grass slow down. So I go cool go slow Mike keep it steady. So I see the cop blow by me thinking hes not pulling me over. I see him pull over my friend with the 3kgt and my other friend in his pathfinder. Next thing I know 2 cop cars pull behind me and my friend in his volvo and pull us over. In the end we had a total of 5 cop cars on us which told us someone definetly tipped them off about us. The cops hated us they were ruthless. I got 3 tickets all together. They caught me at 93mph on the radar, no front license plate, and then the dick cop made me turn on my lights to check my signals which are white. So now I'm facing a court date on the day I'm set to leave for Europe and I'm praying I can reschedule.

My parents are ready to kill me, I now have to take defensive driving, do community service with brain trauma patients so I can see what happens to people in car accidents, and pay for the ticket and the difference in the insurance now. I deserve everything that happened, but I feel like I just don't. I honestly hardly speed of late but since we were so excited and had open straightways we couldn't resist. Pray for me guys I need it.

hmm, that really sucks. even though it is really stupid to race on highways [cliche], many people do it. i guess you can somehow justify it b/c there were no other cars on the road, but you were endangering your life and the life of your friend in the 3000gt.

it is sad that you got three tickets (two are BS), especially now that you feel guilty for your actions. i was in the same boat last year (although less serious, 60 in a 35), so i know how it is.

well, good luck and try to reschedule your court date b/c i know that you can do it. my friend actually rescheduled his because he also left for europe the other day.

Thanks for the compliment. 3kgt is a Mitsbuishi. He has some 17" Roh wheels on it but this is basically what it looks like.

Best of luck to you dude. Think ahead and don't dwell so much on the past. It's done for and there's nothing you can do to change it. A year from now you'll be able to look back at it and laugh about it with your friends and have a fun story to tell the kids.

well here is your prob, you didnt try to make anything of it then. Im guessing you didnt have a radar dectector (first mistake) they do work, then you didnt at least try to verify they had you on radar. They could have just been BSing knowing you were going fast and would take any ticket. I think you are in a position where bending over and taking it from the judge is your only option.

I got caught at 108 in a 45, with three prior tickets, and was convicted of careless and reckless (pleabargained for a combination of the 108 and the C&R).
Good news is you MIGHT be in not that much trouble. In NC if you get more than one citation on the same ticket, the lesser charge is dropped, if its three seperate peices of paper, your not so lucky. So if they wrote all three on one ticket, im sure the lights will get dropped and probably the license plate, although im not sure what your states laws are. Good luck, I know how you feel, one bad mistake will definitely mess you up for a longgg time, but im sure you wont lose your license for a year like me, probably 30-60 days. That seems bad, but I havent driven a car sine december 28th 2002, and I dont get my license back untill april 29th, 2004. (i went to court in april and thats when i was convicted and sentenced to a year probation with a 45 day sentence, year revocation, 100 hours community service, and a psycological evaluation ordered by the court) Seems pretty harsh huh?

edit: i was in a simillar situation when i was caught going 108. I was alone though, and my girlfriend bet me i couldnt hit the governer in my moms car which i was driving at the time(without my radar or scanner ), on a totally empty road. I never did hit it, but got up to 117, cop clocked me at 112, and turned off his radar, turned it back on, anc clocked me at 108. my other tickets were stupid of me, i was either hurrying to work, or on my way to lunch!!!

Wait, 45day sentance... of what? Jail time? Maybe I am just reading it wrong since it is 3am, but if you got jail time, that really sucks.

iCedMan - That really sucks dude. I take it that you are graduating high school? Try talking to your SRO (School Resource Officer) and see if he can provide you with any insight. I don't know about yours, but mine was really cool and really looked out for the kids. And about the court date... if you cannot reschedule it, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT miss the court date. I missed one of mine (for a simple $90 fine) and was accessed the highest punishment that the law would permit. And, on a side note, I'm suprised you lost to the 3000GT unless you're an auto and he's a manual. Those cars are VERY heavy. But that's neither here nor there.

The best 400 bucks you could spend. It will save you time and time again, plus if the cops tell you they got you on radar, you will know if they are bullshitting you or not. Make the investment. You'll thank yourself.

Go to the courthouse well before your courtdate and find out how you can request a continuence (motion) on your case. Its easily done, you just have to know where to go and who to talk to.
If a reason is needed, dont like. You have a big trip coming up that most likely has been planned for a long time, so they will postpone the court date for you (its usually pushed back 1 month - at least for me it has been)
