| still not naming names but one of the people i know that had them crack was rolling on 17in HRE's .. and the other persons havent seen alot of potholes and werent covered in Thin rubber...... however the benefit of HRE's is that they are all 3 piece rims or that is my understanding Last edited by Neel : 06-09-2003 at 11:18 PM. |

| ok here is my perspective on HREs as I run a shop that specializes in wheel repair. one member of the board has a set of 17" 5 spoke HRE's, he at first had all 4 wheels crack in the same spot on all of the spokes. HRE's reply was, oh yeah there was a recall send them back. so we did, after a couple months they finally sent them back. they informed us that the delay was they reassembled them and had a huge issue with the hardware they used as it was rusting on the past 50 sets of wheels they put together. so after more than 2 months they send a completely brand new, warranteed set of wheels. he drives on them for maybe 3 months and one cracks after he drives on it for 20 miles without air at speeds over 100 mph. some wheels crack from potholes, yes, but this one cracked because where the outer was welded together the construction was poor and the weld failed. The whole no-air thing might have had something to do with it. after another month this wheel was back in the shop. at the current time he has had no further issues with them. Another customer of mine we got him a pair, he wanted them for drag racing, they came back with the wrong size valve stem whole, and with the rusty hardware. I couldn't be any more unhappy with any other wheel manufacturer. Just my .02 |

And, since I am the one both you and Neel are referencing, I will say it: I haven't had the easiest time with my HREs, but they have never once let me down when it came to fixing whatever problem arose with their wheels. It is because of the customer service I received that I still happliy run their wheels on my car. |
