With the chip the top speed governor will be removed. I don't think the supercharger has anything to do with top speed: just how fast you get there

interesting, are E36 M3s gear that low? I know alex mc has pushed 160+ on the gps with an e36 gearbox and 3.25 rear gear. 250whp, the Active OBDII S/C kit claims 284whp, and e36s are more aero.....so hmmmmm

Just saw this customer testimonial on active's site:
"my m only gets to 156mph then the limiter kicks in at 7000rpm"

so i guess the m3 is geared for a fairly low topspeed

Yep, 5th gear in the M3 is 1:1. Top speed is redline limited.

will there be a big difference in acceleration with AA supercharger?
Is the S/C kit worth the money?

Believe it or not, you can actaully use the "phone" and speak with someone in real-time, that works for AA!!

From my past experiences, this has proved to be very useful in obtaining information about products or services.

Sure you can call AA, but there is something about getting a somewhat un-biased opinion. Thats not to say that AA's opinion isn't worthwhile. Being a potential SC buyer myself I would be interested in hearing some feedback.
AA was originally running a $4800 special to the first 100 kits. This offer is no longer on their site. Did they sell out the 100 kits? If they did, why aren't there any spokemen here on DTM keeping us up on their opinions on this kit??

I have the first E36 kit... runs great, pulls strong. I have experienced just about zero heatsoak and I have been running the car in South Fla (it was over 87 today).

Here is one of my dynosheets with an "average" run for the car. I have seen higher hp and torque #s. I have also not dynoed the car while setup with the track pipe and Gen III. I plan on running on a Dynojet soon, this is the results from a Mustang Dyno.

After having the kit for awhile, what are your "real world" impressions? (Day to day, traffic/stop and go traffic) Are you using the original clutch? Lastly, is the installed kit audible when driving? I have heard several Vortech V1's that sound horrible especialy on a M3. Thanks for the input and keep us posted!

Lets see:

I do not drive the car daily, but I have been in traffic, etc... no problems, no overheating, very slight temp rise (not noticable on car gauge, but I added gauges. Day to day the car is totally driveable, I let my mother drive it last time she was visiting and she loved it, said it drives like normal until she gets over 3K RPMS. I have run about 5-6K miles on the system. It makes passing alot more fun and is very responsive when you get adjusted to the range where your boost is available. The power deliverly is very smooth and you do not have to be hesitant to get ont eh throttle coming out of a turn.

I am on the original clutch still, it has been holding up well, but I did have less than 24K miles when the system was installed. I am going to go with a high performance clutch soon.

Car sounds like its supercharged but it sounds different than a Vortech... not sure how to best describe it. I will have to pay more attention so I can explain.

ESP,
Last question. Have you g-tech'ed the car yet or even better, taken it to the track? I know that numbers don't show a whole lot because alot depends on the driver, but it would still be interesting to see. I've seen good times on M3's from 5.3 - 5.9 0-60 and 1/4's 13.7 - 14.4's.. (Note: These are the BEST times that I have seen around the net on basically stock cars, varied drivers, varied tracks & conditions.) Aren't you somewhat curious? AA won't quote times, but the obviously will show graphs. Any thoughts?

In all honestly I am not a 0-60 or 1/4 miler, I have a friend with a G-tech and I am willing to see if I can borrow it to give everyone an idea. I will see what I can do.
