service dude @ shop told me vanos is goin out, some ticking sound... i had that a while back and thoguht it was the oil being too thin and it went away... the car been sitting at the shop for a while and tehy said for sure its the vanos.. how much is it to do a replacement? btw how much you guys pay for inspection 2? my lights hasnt come up but i think i need one soon, can i just take it to a non-dealer and get it done too?

well depends how you gonna get your parts used or new bmw parts. and your gonna have to elaborate on what parts are failing. and was this a bmw shop or sum chump on the street telling you this. there are alot of bad mechanics that will chop your car to shit so be careful.

I hate Vanos...its nothing but problems, and u dont get much out of it anyway...

whenever vanos is going out it does make a ticking sound, hes prolly right...

New Vanos is like $200-$300 and this does not include the tensioners and stuff. It's just the unit.

Yes I agree with scottycs, vanos has remarkably paved the way to better performance.
