im not against nos, but it is one dangerous hoe, its a good thing for a 318 to have to help it move, but you gotta be careful with it because its pretty flammable and can make you loose control.

I usually tend to stay away from it because the additional power is only there for a few seconds. I'd rather save all the cash that I'd spending on NOS refils and buy a turbo. Plus I know some people that have had trouble with their kits. ZEX in particular. There are 6 people that I know of that have nuked their engines using dry ZEX kits. Now it is possible that they are all boneheads and don't know how/when to use it or that there was something up with the install... But I for one am not willing to take the chance.

Just my $.02

The real question is are you trying to say "NOS" or a N2O system, because NOS is a company that makes a N2O system, and is "hated on" because of its appearance in the movie the Fast and Furious. I havn't seen much acceptance of NOS, but there are people running N2O systems. The other real question is why do you state it as "do we all hate NOS"... Why should you run with the crowd, a better way to look at it would be to find out more about N2O systems, and form your own opinion based on the information you see around you rather than trying to fit in with the group. The problem with N2O systems like davan said is that people blow their engines, and they are somewhat dangerous in general. Some people try to mod the kits more then they really should and end up blowing their car up (I've seen pics) while other kits are messed up in the first place and will damage your engine anyways (Zex I believe as davan said had that problem).

In short, N2O can be a cheap quick fix for power, or a powerful addition to other systems (turbo, supercharger, intercooler icer), but is dangerous.

NItrous Oxide Systems which is now a division of Holley has been building N2O systems for years and is very very good at what they do. A lot of poeple are shallow and see N2O systems as all being NOS products and just everything by what they see in crap movies.

N2O systems can be very reqarding if used correctly but unfortunatly a lot of people do not spend the time to research let alone build a good system and thus they torch their engines by running lean.

To do it right requires a lot of money, effort and time and a lot of people just don't have it.

NOS is an acceptable term for N20 for the fact that it can be an acronym --- Nitrous Oxide System = N.O.S. However, you would have to call it "a NOS", and not just "NOS"

its not false horsepower.. but temporary HP. Its still a means of F/I just like a turbo or S/C... however.. you dont have that power with you all the time.

The way i see it, it can be a very good thing in certain situations.

Perhaps you are not one who wants all the power in your car all the time.. just occasionally for those infrequent races and/or spirited driving. Then a NOS would be good. Less wear on the engine since its the added power is only occasional -- and its cost efficient for that type of person.

A NOS is bad for the person who guns it all the time. Constant refills over time would result in costing more than a nice turbo or S/C.

I dont hate a N2O system - but its probably not the way i would go. Id rather save the $$ and get a S/C

i personally am against it because A) it can be very dangerous to your cars health and B) b/c when you are out of N20 you probably couldnt beat something w/ a turbo/blower..

I just dislike people slapping on nitros to band-aid a slow car....

If you have a Supra or something with a turbo so big you need N02 to spool, more power to you

Nitrous Oxide sucks because it is false horsepower.. when the bottle's empty you better go home. Not to mention it DOES accelerate engine wear (of course what doesn't) even when setup properly.. and shit happens anyway, N20 blows.

I would say for pure drag or oval track racing N20 is not a bad thing but for road courses and the real world I would not want the blue bottle throttle kicking in everytime I downshifted... scary shit when you just *pop* gained 100hp.
