| Need help w/ diagnosing problem. Father's car: The car is a 1995 325i w/ approx. 160,000 miles. Upon starting the engine, a very loud, repetitive squeak-like sound comes from the engine bay. I removed the accessory belt and ac belt to try to elimate the possibility of the sound coming from a pulley, roller or belt. Started the car after everything was removed and the sound is still evident. Shut the engine of within 10sec and I noticed a burnt smell. The only thing I could think of is the oil pump is bad causing no lube to the top of the engine. Any ideas? thx

| Similar to a loose belt or even a bad pulley. Actually, its more of a friction-like squeaking... almost like metal on metal. It sounds nasty.
