Dinan supercharger pricing, installation included?

Does anyone know if the $5995 includes the 2,000,000 labor "units" or whatever they call them?

It does not. The price only includes the kit.

it will cost you 10,000 dollars to install the supercharger at the dealer. if you want to go the extra distance, you should also installl the heavy-duty, sports clutch, light weith flywheel and maybe an aftercooler and big brake kit too....that'll cot you probably nearly 20,000 dollars for everything.

$10,000 ??!! Does that include the cost of shipping the car back to the factory in Germany and then flying Steve Dinan over there to work on it? Wow. If you pay more $1k (which is pretty high too) to have one of these superchargers installed make sure they at least give you a reach around.

Yeah thumbnails estimate of 10K plus all that other stuff is not accurate. I've talked extensively with the authorized Dinan installer right near me about this. It's 20 hours labor, so yes, that will run an extra 1700 to 1800, and there will be things that will have to be in place prior. It may push up on 8K or so! BUT, Dinan swears that the stock brakes, suspension and clutch hold up perfectly fine with their SC. This place I spoke to even installs them on some demo cars and sells them as is!!! With no other mods to brakes, etc. They gave me names of a few VERY VERY happy customers in my area. One of which I've even been in touch with...

Well there are other folks out there that make superchargers. Dinan makes good gear but IMHO they are over priced. We have some Dinan gear in one of our project cars, again good stuff but it is pricey.

No offense to anyone here but I guess installation never factors into the picture for me. If I can't install it myself or with the help of friends it doesn't go on the car.

I suggest you check RMS: http://www.racemarque.com/default.asp

Peace,

Mal

well from what frayed told me, or it might've been fourfa, i get those two confused, but anyways he said you could install the dinan sc on your own, all you'd need was a 32mm bike wrench and the software download from the dealer.......

Is it really that simple? I am iffy about installs ever since I had a horrible time turbocharging my prelude...and the local dealer want $6995 for the Dinan sc too, $1000 overpriced??

I think that's just a bit of a stretch!!! This is not a mod that can be done by just anybody, following instructions! Not a chance! Furthermore, with Dinan or even RMS for that matter, if you do it yourself, the work is not warrantied by anyone. At least Dinan or an authorized RMS installer will stand by their work. That to me, is worth an extra 1500 to 1800... I mean seriously, if you have the cash to buy an SC to begin with, why skimp out on the install cost at that point. Yes, if you have the know how to do it yourself, then go for it. You can prolly fix it yourself too then when and if something goes wrong!

10k was the price I was quoted 6 months ago when I asked the dealer, that's including the SC and installation. I've seen a dinan SC at the dealer that had everything I said installed. Sure you can keep all the other parts stock without problem. That's why I said "if you want to go the extra distance"....but you don't have to.
