Suspension upgrade with Stage 2 turbo

My brother wants to know why the stock suspesion should be upgraded when going to a bigger turbo kit (stage 2). His argument is that plenty of cars go 10sec 1/4 miles running stock suspension w/ no problems. Anyone care to comment?

Because first of all, the stock suspension sucks after like 20,000 miles.

I hate to be argumentive here ... but i really do not know anybody thats running 10s with a stock suspension. Especially BMWs.

Remember ... you can all the power in the world ... but it wont make that much of a difference if you cant hook up that power to the ground.

To give you an example about suspension at the drag strip ... with a stock/daily driven setup and a 2.5 liter w/stage 1 gen 1 AA turbo... i was hitting 13.4 on the 1/4. With a different suspension setup ... i was able to shave off .2-.3 and hit 13 flat. And with stickier tires ... i finally broke into the high 12s. (but i would highly recommend NOT driving with that setup on the street)

trust me I agree with you guys, i just need to convince him. He was saying that drag cars have softer suspension. He also wants to know how getting stiffer suspension is going to hlep.

He's probably thinking of the front drag shocks on a rear wheel drive car. Technically they are not soft ... they just lift up the front easier ... and its scary to drive on the street with the drag shocks.

because bmw's aren't drag cars. they're made for turns. that's why suspension mods are necessary. =]
