video (vs. a Ducati 748)

here's a little stint from 2nd thru 4th gear at 15psi. Ducati's rated at 11.45@120mph. Although that includes a 1.2-second sprint to 30 and a 3.0-second sprint to 60 (I get 2.3 and 5.0, respectively) there was no way to keep with a bike off the line. However, since the trap speeds are similar, we knew it would be close if we start from 20mph and take away the Ducati's advantage from starting right off the line, plus the car measured 60-120mph is a little bit quicker than what they gave the Ducati.
notice what happens when the car goes into 4th gear.

previously, we had tried this a few times during testing on an airstrip from 3rd thru 4th gear and the same thing kept happening---the bike and car are even until early 4th gear and then it falls behind once the higher rpms in the turbo M3 are achieved in 4th gear. Power-to-weight ratio matters less the faster and faster you go and power/aerodynamics start to take over.

Before we did this video we knew there was just one perpendicular street we had to be careful for, so we did it early Sat am to avoid any cars. It looks like we're in a neighborhood but we're not--we're outside on a very long wide road and running along the railroad tracks, which are on the side you cannot see. I know, still bad...but hey we just had to get one video, .

again, thanks to Rey at Active Autowerke for hosting.

Hmm, I think Pablo has a Bypass valve that recirculates back into the system rather than releasing it into the atmosphere. (am I right Pablo) :P

Bypass valves sounds like that anyways...you hear a little puff or hiss, it's not like BOV's which make this loud high pitch screech.

Pablo got a question,
I don't know anything about motorcylces, but how would you do against a Yamaha R1 or the Suzuki GSX R-1000?

hmm. I'd probably need to boost at least over 20+psi to keep up with one of those suckers. Those bikes trap the 1/4m about 12-13mph faster than this Ducati does.

The way this lil race went, I wouldn't keep up with a 916 or 996 from 2nd to 3rd gear. But the way I started to pull on him at 4th, who knows it would be perhaps somewhat close, although I'd probably still lose.

But no way I have a prayer against a well-ridden GSX-R 1000 or YZF R-1, IMHO. Their 600cc lil' brothers (GSX-R 600 and R6, stock of course), perhaps...but from 3rd-5th gear only (not 2nd!!). Already hung with/slightly pulled ahead a well-ridden R6 before. But not these fast 1000cc bikes...no way.

hehe, now all we need is for one of the Miami boys to post a video showing their much faster-than-mine M3 turbos pulling on a 996 Ducati! then what?
You'll be stuck buying a GSX-R 1000 or a Hayabusa,

whew! you'd be surprised. Probably at 12 other M3s at least, and that's just on the turbo end! I wouldn't be shocked if some SC'd cars are way faster out there, too.
