| Pablo: Nice vid :-) I have a Ducati 748R and a turbocharged M Coupe and I can confirm that my car accelerates much faster than my bike! .-=[ Kenny ]=-.

| the ///m's with any turbo's are fast, but you gotto have a bike just for weekend fun, i myself im looking at a 2001 kawasaki ninji r1 in sport green, and since you have no videos of that nice ass 2.8-3.1 to 60 depending on weight of rider i still want it, so don't go and ruin it for me, otherwise tight ass race

| I'm not sure what the Kawa R1 is, but I did have brief couple of stints against a green, late 90s-'00 Kawasaki ZX-7R, the car on the 14psi setting. From 2nd gear-on (about 40mph) he'd pull on me pretty easily--no contest. but when we'd start from third (70+mph) and I achieve max boost I could just barely hang. He'd be inching his way forward. But by the time we got to fourth I was just barely inching my own way forward, and I mean inching--it was really really close. Who knows, maybe he wasn't pushing 100% (I'll save someone else the trouble of saying that, ), I didn't get a chance to talk to him or anything..I've ridden over a dozen different "crotch rockets" and I can just tell you that the rush/acceleration on a 600-900cc sport motorcyle from 1st-2nd gear is something I will never ever ever be able to feel in a street car. I've ridden an an 800bhp AWD Saab (believe it or not) before, but that's different because it was a race car. You know which bike I want? I want an '86-90 GSX-R 750. I just love the looks of those dang things, and they're so cheap. Or even a '94 ZX-7 (I like that year). Too bad I don't have the $$$ to buy a good, new bike like a YZF-R7, oh man would I want that sucker--probably kill myself on any bike, though. Jon, I'll be at evosport sometime soon. Perhaps next week if not the following. I'll keep you up to date and yeah by all means cruise over and we'll take her out. The car loves the beach weather/altitude! Charles, yeah I have trouble with some of the videos, too. except the last one. The other ones are so slow on my comp for some reason. TKM3, where you referring to having a video of the R1 vs. the Mcoupe? If so I wanna see!!! If not, tell us what happened at least. I'm curious.

| While all ducatis are nice (748, 998, etc), they are extremely difficult to launch off the line quickly. Even a seasoned rider can sometimes stall the bike from a standstill. This is due mainly to the ducati's dry clutch. A friend of mine rides a 996 and the clutch engagement is like a vise grip, which makes slap shifting difficult. You can't compare a ducati to a Japanese liter bike in terms of straight-line speed. Try racing a Gixxer 1000, Yamaha R1 or a Honda 954, especially with a gearing change...But then again with these bikes, do u really need a gearing change? |

| unless I missed it, I don't think anyone was comparing Ducati vs. Japanese bikes. And sure I'll try against an R1 or GSX-R1000 or 954RR but I'll be the first to tell you I'll get smoked. I might as well slam it in reverse from any speed because that's what it will look like, ![]()
