I found the secret to BMW VANOS on a Honda board. LMAO!!!

"+ the automatic bimmers 325i and up, all have this button under the accelerator which is sorta like nos, that gives you a lil boost, and all 325i and up (93 and up) come w/ VANOS, thats like THE EXACT SAME THING AS VTEC......"

i just read thru the thread, and it is freakin funny as hell.

the bimmer guy quoted "the m50 [comment: i think he means m52] 2.8 engine (328i) produces 190hp and 182 lb/ft of torqe-"

i thought the 328i had over 200 lb/ft of torque? that's what i read else where.

I think most of the recent BMW Autos - starting perhaps with your E34 have this little "NOS button" it's just a signal to your tranny to move along little doggie and drop another gear.

It's the same as you taking your handle and slapping it into the lowest possible gear. It does nothing really.

no the 328i PERFORMS like it has more torque but he's right on the money on its rating...he just neglects to explain the low % of powertrain loss that those Horsies have to go through.

ic. yea, i remember i saw it at edmunds.com. this is what they have:

Horsepower: 190 hp @ 5300 rpm
Torque: 207 ft-lbs. @ 3950 rpm
