Where to find giant turbo? (fake, real, or busted)

Every once in a while someone will post a picture of a gaint turbo or turbos and joke about putting them on an M3.

Does anyone know where you can buy one?

No, no...this isn't going on my car. I'm crazy but I'm not THAT crazy. My plan is to buy a blown, rusted, busted huge ass turbo, fix it up cosmetic wise, and then stick it in the corner of my apartment. I think it would look trick!

Well, it will be no easy task aquiring one but I'll tell you where you can get one. The huge ass ones that are like 4 feet tall come off jetliners... Unless you know someone that works for FedEx or somewhere else, I wouldn't try to get one... Trying to steal airplane parts is probably a serious offense now. Um, There are smaller (But way larger than a car) turbos you can get that they use on commuter busses. Ever drive buy a bus when it's switching gears, and you hear, pshhhhhhht.... That's that puppy makin noise... They don't use them on school buses (I dont think).. They are pretty much used for city buses. And the only place I've seen them is when I got community service and I had to work for the public works dept. of the city helping them in their repair depot... I saw tons of them, and I was gonna grab a few and do the same thing that you're trying to do, but technically that's stealing, and I was already in there for assualt, so I didn't want any more trouble though But good luck on finding one... Ebay. I see a ton, it would be cool to get a lot of different compressor housings and polish them, because they will fit flat agianst the wall, and you could hang them.

my dad has tons lying around in the shop. My family owns a business called Johnson & Towers and we are a distributer for detroit deisel, mercedes, volvo. Anyway at the plant they replace the turbos in all the tractor trailers u see on the highway and also on big sport fishing boats. Some of the old turbos lying around are as big as a basketball. U can fit your fist in it. heh. U guys should hear the turbos spool up on the engines in the company boat.... ever hear two dual turbo 1300 hp engines with 3500lbs of torque(in total) spool up? Anyway i'll talk to him and see what i can do.

i would love to get one of those big turbos that your dad has laying around. or just any big ass turbo. what should i search for on ebay to find one? do i just ask the city repair department for one or should i just go down there and see whats up?

search "turbo" "turbocharger" you'll have to wade through a bunch of good ones, but that's ok.
