I talk quite a bit to Karl Hugh from AA. Mostly regarding tuning opportunities for the car. We toss a lot of ideas around when we're on the phone and Karl is an awesome guy to talk to regardless of how busy he is, always finding some spare time to shoot the breeze with me regarding cars and friends. If any of you know me I eat, breath, and sleep this stuff. Not all of the ideas I've had are brand new because I've seen living proof of someone doing it already, but I've thought about hybrid turbo/supercharger setups, nitrous spooled turbos, variable boost supercharger pulleys, self-compressed CO2 setups... Karl usually just laughs and tells me that it's just not cost-effective to do something like that. It's all a function of time/dinero (smiles evily)

On the tamer side of things we talk a lot of creating more power the conventional way. Cams, new pulley, machined head, more tuning. I'm attempting to get to 400hp with the least amount of work of course. Karl tells me he's tuned the car and made 340hp and 310torque to the wheels on his mustang dyno (not too far off from the graph in part one). I figure 60hp isn't THAT far away with this setup... but he tells me that I wouldn't get another 60hp to the wheels with cams, head-work, tuning alone... i'd have to increase the boost with a new pulley but then run into heat problems.

Of course Karl then has to absolutely HUMILIATE my numbers with what he could do with a Stage 4+ like Omer Sezer's 600hp M-coupe as seen in the dynochart below (numbers for my car were taken from pre-AAtuning). Then he tempts me further with talk of how he would really like to do a turbo-5 series. Then again we'd have to custom make everything because the only thing that would bolt-on from the E36 kit is the exhaust manifold. Tempting, but extremely expensive and never been done. So we go back to considering my alternatives...

When all has been said and done I'll have to admit it's awfully tempting to do a turbo, especially one of the likes of a T61 like Omer's. The decision would take a bit of time to make though it was a plan in the making for months...

This thread is becoming a tease. Even though I may know some insights, the posting is dramatic and I cant wait till part III. I hope there isnt like a part IV or V.

BMWGuy206 I know it's quite a tease but look at the other option... I could have posted this in real time when it was happening and made people wait 4 months like the RMS S/C M5 thread. The only difference is that hehehe well let's not go there

Charles, let's put it this way: it's a legalized go-cart.

From Sept. 2 to Sept. 28, I put exactly one mile on the 5 series.

You know you could have saved some dough buy buying an M5 motor man. But I guess some like to have a little khaos in their life and dont want the easy way out hehehhe So when is it coming back??? You want 60HP get nitrous with 160HP shot. See problem solved
