You all just wait. I'm gonna put quadruple VANOS AND triple iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-VTEC(version 2.0) on my grandma's '79 Buick Electra. It's gonna have 6000Hp.

BTW, do any of you work for an auto company? Do any of you REALLY know what you're talking about?

Why does it matter if you work for an auto company?

You can tell which people know what they are talking about and which ones dont. As rob said earlier this is a good thread to read up on Vanos/Vtec VANOS/double VANOS, VTEC/i-VTEC .

Working at an auto company doesnt mean you know what the system is I bet if you walk there and ask how it works they will give the broadest statement.

The system is explained all over the net since its the same as what the dealer "should" know why does it matter if anyone works at a dealer

Anyone notice that the member ##s for all the correct people on this thread are under 1k, but all the people causing trouble are 3k+?

Doesn't really matter...Double Vanos is essentially "old" technology, at least in BMW's eyes. The advent of Valvetronic eliminates the need for throttle bodies, and allows for "infinitely variable intake valve lift"...you now have essentially an infinite number of intake cam profiles between 0-9.7mm of valve lift. Combine that with Double Vanos and a modified Siemens VT controller, and you can pretty much set your own custom lift/duration profiles throughout the entire powerband, something VTEC obviously cannot do (more like an on/off switch between 2 different cam profiles). So if you are comparing older BMW technology (namely just VaNoS), then yes, VTEC is better...but Valvetronic just set a new benchmark in terms of VVT for other companies to follow.

true, valvetronic is probably one of the most significant innovations in engine techonology.

"You're just an idiot" Wow, I'm going to have to go write that one down before I forget it. That's a really good comeback. Well, since we're all acting like morons here I guess I'll join in on the fun...So how's your mom doing? She was pretty bloody when I left last night.
