| New Ford Turbo!!!! Has everyone heard about the new "BA" Ford on for sale on the 30th of this month? The XR6 Version now has a T4 Garret Turbo. They all now have 4V per Cyl Twin Cam Head, and the XR8 "BOSS" is now a 5.4L V8! Man, ford is definatly doing something right. They all now have IRS, and styling is spot on! Lets all trade the Bimmers on a FORD!!!!! hahaha. But seriously, Ford is definatly better than Holden now. Holdens new "VY" Commodore looks pretty crap now. GO THE FORDS!!!!!!!!!! http://www.ford.com.au |

| Unfortunately, the similarities are quite striking ![]() I'd still take a Holden though, granted, the Ford has more power, but I've been a 'Holden Man' ever since dad brought home his first 5L V8 Stato ![]() |

| Holden man here. Ive got reservations about the reliability and durability of the turbo engine and I think youd want a good mechanic if you wound it up. I agree ford are heading in the right direction now, but Ill wait till I drive the base model before consider converting to ford-ism. |

| Apparently in testing, they were able to make up to 600HP with stock internals before blowing the engine . If this is true, this car is going to be an animal. The potential is huge!!! The only problem apparently is that the drivetrain is weak and can't handle the power. They were blowing gearboxes and diffs left right and centre during testing. I don't know if this issue was resolved but I'd say it would have. I'll always be a Holden man (BMW aside ) but you can't ignore the power, looks and potential of the XR models. |

| Does ford have an XR model??? ![]() It would be sweet if you could hook up 500hp with some turbo, chip and exhaust mods only. If that were the case, Id be smiling each time I paid for a new diff. |

| Its pretty mad, but an M3 will still beat it in its stock form.... ![]() With some work, the M3 will be able to eat a heavily modded XR6T no worries. If its possible to get 140 rwkw from a decompressed 2.5l M52, with boost to 16pounds and the right tuning, in excess of 220rwkw wouldn't be out of the question I don't think. Lets not even start talking about the pros and cons of having a smaller engine putting out that large power, fuel consumption, insurance, everything goes for it, apart from the $$$ it takes to do it, but even that is all relative. I'll be happy with 390-400 rwkw ![]() Bring on any Ford or Holden anyday.... Even better, bring on the 180+rwkw blown 4banger That'll teach the commie drivers not to mess with 318's again POS ay? I think not.... ![]()

| Here is the deal. Ford claims 240kw and 450nm as official figures. Ford has to be very very careful as they are currently in the middle of a lawsuit for having output figures that were higher than reality for the US Mustang. Hence the figures quoted are very very understated. Ford has said that a production xr6 turbo can produce 270kw in stock form (this is what they have seen testing the car) so 240kw as an official figure is really low, but neccessary for litigation. Secondly, reliability is proven in Ford by a worldwide testing of all cars (ISO standard) by running a full on 675 hour dyno run. Thus stock xr6 turbos are of course proven to be very durable. Thridly, Ford has also said that the XR6 turbo will easily take 300kw with 500nm without changing the turbo - that is some serious grunt! If i were Ford i would be worrying about how to market XR6 against the XR8. The main thing is that the turbo has max torque from 2000 rpm, which would be devastating for the xr8's.. but it would of course lack the aural sound track. The new VY SS 'only' has 235 kw so the testing between the two will be interesting. Even more interesting is that the XR8 will have more power than the XR6 so holden will really only compete with the HSV (it will be HSV vs. XR) but it gets interesting when Ford puts out the performance arm replacement for Tickford then HSV will really be in trouble because to beat the XR8 output, they would need some mega kw! Figures (stock standard) for the new xr6 are 0-100 in 'under' 6.5!! I'd take the ford over the holden becuase i think the interior is more grown up, even though externally i think the holden looks good. This is a big comment form me as i always have thought as ford as a follower, but with the dedication shown by ford (as opposed to holden who just slapped on a few new body panels) i'd take the ford anyday.

| And then, wait for the the GT comes!!!! Fu(k yeah!!!!! FORD RULES!!!! But think about it. The block is still the same old school block they have been using for years. Its just a new head. So, would it be possible for people like me and Cornhoilo to just purchase the new head and "Bolt On" (So to speak) to our existing 6 Cyl. Block? Hmm, i think with a little modification, its possible..... Drew |
