What are the types of Superchargers?

I know there are a few different variations of the supercharger. Was wondering if any of you guys could explain the difference? Roots/centrifugal/etc. What does that all mean? Raima is probably one of the experts here!

Nah - just like learning about car-related stuff. I heard there are some supercharges which don't exhibit the stereotypical instant-power characteristics of supercharges and they lag a bit. Was trying to find out more.

ive actually been starting to think about forced induction , reading up on the pro's and con's of turbo v's supercharger.....im still confused as to which direction i would go....

Any suggestions I give will be biased

But the supercharger route will probably require less time since you don't have to worry about trying to plumb an exhaust manifold to the turbo, etc.

I was in your position a while ago

the gap between s/c's and turbo's is closing dramatically as both technologies are very modern and the aftermarket applications have boosted sales, such as s/c bolt on kits (ala jackson racing et al) and hype in america from hi-po japanese cars mean there are great innovations and inroads into both fields...

Steve, Supercharging is probably less of a hassle if you ask me....

Talk to Raima though about it, he is the resident expert for Supercharging

If you want more info on Turbo's, talk to Blown3 (Allen) or 2002turbo (Erik) and they'll guide you accordingly

If you're running a 2.5L Vanos M50, there are many many things you can do to get power at a decent price...

thanks , i think i would probably go s/c , from what ive read its less demanding on the engine, a lot easier to maintain and well theres also the 3.0l option , me needs to think

Steve, when you want to do it, talk to Andrew from ALS in Sydney. It will be worth your while....

thanks Ben , ive taken a look at there site a few times and they seem to know what there doing..!!!....thees a guy on here called Paddy Mack and ive spoken to him quite a bit about it , he has a s/c m3 and says the same thing for reliabity wise and so forth go s/c but i wil definitely give the ALS guys a call and have a chat..!!!!

Good luck with it, Steve! Remember to take progress pics! You should be able to get about 360+bhp without dramas. What kinda output are you after?

i would be ecstatic if i got 360 bhp out of it !!!!

i thought i'd only get about another 100 hp ....
