Turbos for New M engine?

I was just wanting to know about any S/C or turbos that are out on the market for the 01+ 3.2L M engines...Im looking at a 01 M Coupe right now and If i get it I would love to put a nice smile on its front with a nice Intercooler and wonderful sound of a BOV

compression ratio is too high - heard of only one tuner trying it but it's still not ready

ess and RMS are coming out or have kits for the s54. however, i wholeheartedly recommend against F/I'ing one of these motors. for the amount of money u spend on a blower kit and for the hp that u get, its pointless. theres probably 80 hp sitting in that thing, with cams, intake work, exhaust, Computer work, etc.

I'll totally agree.......hp/dollar and hp/risk is way out there - not worth it. That engine's been tweaked for all it's worth unless you start switching out internals........mo money, mo money, mo money - what's the sensical point?

with the amount of work bmw already did to squeeze 333 hp on that motor, cams and head work wont yield much. most super high hp motors are f/i. The compression may be a little high but with proper timing and fuel, its possible with low boost. Maybe someone will provide a thicker head gasket and pull down the compression some. AA did with the 10.5:1 M motor

the new m3 motors are so tempermental, that i would hesitate to even touch it (as not to void the factory warranty). But as far as FI goes, if you can put a SC on an S2K which has a higher redline, and more hp/liter, you can DEFINATELY put one on an m3 engine... just my 2 cents

Yes, you guys are right. S54 M Motor can be SCed and I am getting my car back tomorrow. It will have RMS S54 SC Stage II with secondary fuel injection kit. The guy behind RMS SC development (Osh) personally worked on the installation and tuning for almost whole week. According to him, it is capable of 500 hp at the crank but he will tune it down to 460ish for safety reasons. My car is supposed to be the first S54 M car to have SC in the States (production model, not beta tests). Stay tuned for the result.

why don't you tell that to the people who have put turbos on an S2000? or maybe the people who are doing it to the RSX Type-S?

there's no such thing as "too high". give people time and it'll be done. there have been european e36 m3s with turbos (and even twin turbos) and they've got 11.3:1 (e46 is 11.5:1).

G-Power of Germany have kits for both the Euro M3 3.0, 3.2 and the E46 M3 operating at a low .25 bar of boost (4 PSI). They also include ann intercooler - The price is though is approx. $11K USD for the kit...

I am waiting for ESS to release their kit which a lot cheaper at approx. $7K USD.

only problem...

Kroger -

Even if a turbo was built for the E46 M3 or mcoupe, you still would NOT have the sound of a BOV...it would be piped back in, otherwise you'd stall if you had to stop hard.

Good luck! I've been tracking a supercharged car now for over 3 years and I've blown up 1 motor and gone through 2 diffs. Thankfully the S52 motor only costs about 4,000 to replace and the diffs about 250 to fix. Basicly, it will happen if you drive the car hard enough and long enough, even at something like 6.5psi, which was what I was running.

I hope you never have to feel the pain of buying a new S54 motor.

I agree on J.M3 on this one. I even decided not to drag race my M3 as frequent as I did before. I ended up tearing my driveshaft and damaging the lower diff bolt and mounting a few times already.
