Question for the Nitrous freaks...

I'm checking out nitrous kits and don't know exactly what to look for. I went to the BavarianAutoSport site and saw they had a Zex dry kit that supported a 55hp and 75hp shot. Just wanted to know what kind of kits everyone on the board was using and how the car holds up to it. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

ok, if you're gonna get nitrous, i suggest getting a wet kit. it costs a little more cause there is an extra soleniod. installation requires one more step too, cause you gotta cut the fuel line. it should give you more hp cause it mixes the fuel and the nitrous.
i dont know how wet kits hold up on bmw's though, you might wanna get some more opinions.

but for sure get a purge kit too. not only does it look cool, but it helps keep ware and tear off your kit.

and try looking for a used kit. they are MUCH cheaper.

I have heard that the zex is a P.O.S and that it is not a direct easy fit like they claim to be. Be careful though, nitrous is illegal in Cali, and you will get busted big time. Good luck.

It's only gonna be hooked up for the drag strip and for that one time I get challenged by someone who is actually worth racing. Right now my two co workers and I have a friendly bet. Anything goes so we're all going balls out for this one friendly race. The two losers have to do what the winner says. I'm gonna make them, if I win, use dildos as their shifter knobs. The other guy, who has a mustang 5.0 (Just got everything rebuilt with new heads) is gonna make us wear "Whiteboy Racing" windshield decals as well as on the rear window. The other guy, has a '00 TypeR with a BUNCH of goodies (You know how cheap Honda parts are). The race will be in about a month and I'll post the results as well as with a movie. I've been looking into Nitrous anyway so this is more the reason to get it...

dont go with zex, zex are all dry kits which dont mesh to well with our motors. i know a lot of people that learned that the hard way with their bimmers. probably the best kit out there would be the Ntrous Express wet kit ( which i have on my car).

I would go with the NX kit, I have one and it is a great kit. You can't go worng with wet kits because you know there is always going to be enough fuel to mix with the nitrous. I bought my kit used from someone that had it on a VW jetta. The only thing I had a problem with is finding a place to put a throttle body switch, so I just had the push button style but other than that everything was damn easy to install.

Good luck.

Go with an NX kit. I have ran a Nitrous Express kit in my car for a while now. I only run a 75 shot, helps spool my turbo. However, I haven't had any problems with it. Go with a wet kit, and for a 75 shot you don't need a multiport setup. Purge is a great idea, it just gets the air out of the lines. But if you don't get a purge kit, on initial injection, you will bog the car. Because there is no nitrous, but a lot of fuel going into the motor.

I would go with a single jet, wet system with purge. They are usually only 800 from NX. That is CDN to.

Dildos as shift knobs!!!!
But back on topic, Zex never even tested their nitrous kits on one single BMW. Something to watch out for . PM LuckyBMW and He'll give you all the info on that.
