Nitrous oxide.

Guys- I love my M42, don't get me wrong. I love its lightweight, the way it revs, the way it sounds, and its ample power. However, I would like to have the ability to run with Type R's, S2000's, etc on the highway. I am considering hooking up a nitrous oxide system. What does this typically run for everything plus installation? It would be a 50-hp shot; nothing to extreme. It would ONLY be used on rolling starts; nothing in the corners, and nothing off the line.

O man i know how you feal, i think about n2o everyday, just a little 55shot, how cool it would be too have, i wouldnt even use it unless on a track to be safe or a race for money. But yea it is one way to become a lot faster for a little bit of money.

Zex has a full kit for 599.99

then they sell like a gauge, remote bottle opener , and purge kit too. They have all this in the bavarian catalog

So cheap man 599.99 and you become fast real quick!!!

I prolly wont get it til other people like you get it and talk about it,and i would do a lot of research before also.

If it wasnt my daily driver car i would have prolly already done it!!!

If you got with nitrous def go with the zex kit. the 55, 65, 75 shot kit is a very safe and reliable boost for those close races. You have to be carefully not to get addicted to the feeling of the laughing gas throwing oyu to the back of your seat cause it is awesome. As long as you are smart and dont abuse it the you and your (assuming) high milage car will be ok. Dont get the zex for 600. you can get it for 520 easily. the pourge kit isnt necessary if oyu arent going to use it off the line and the remote bottle opener would be nice if you are lazy and use it on the street. The gause is a good option and if oyu dont have a good air/fuel ratio i sugesst getting one of them also. Casue if you go to lean... then booooooom. Other mods arent necessary but just if oyu want to be even safer. a window switch so if you miss a gear or over rev then it wont bounce off the rev limiter with the "nawz"(lol), cause ouch. you may want to get a new fuel pump, new spark plugs but that is about it. I owuld only run the 55 shot though. It is very safe and a computer controls the nitrous so it is designed for stock cars. Just flip the switch and floor it. You may want to buy a bottle warmer for those cold nights so the bottle pressure stays up and that is about it. pm me if you have more questions, im not an expert but i know a little about it. Oh and also remember at 4 dollars a pound in a 10 pound bottle 40 bucks goes quickly.

hey stu, if your serious PM seedster or luckybmw. they know alot about diffrent systems.

just remeber never run it in first or 5th gear, never redline your car with the bottle on, and only run it on WOT with a window switch and a bottle heater. for more info talk to the guys i mentioned. they know their stuff.

it also might be a good idea to take out your chip, atleast at first to see if it's gonna knock because of the advanced ignition

NOS...I bought the ZEX kit today and Ill install it tomorrow. Ill let every one know how it goes. I wont have a chance to run at the drag strip untill next week though. Hopefully with a 75 shot I can squeeze into the 13s. I also got some better tires and Ill take out the easy stuff ie: seats, spare, ect...Ill also disconnect the front swaybar. Peter

This is a really good site for info on nitrous, also above some refered that having advanced timing with nitrious is bad, which is my understanding as well. I believe that you are suppose to take 2-3 degrees out for every 50 or 100 shot, do not remember which one. Anyways, go to the site they will be better to tell you this info than me. Also I think you are suppose to run colder plugs as well. Good Luck and have fun with it!
