Nitrous = Too Much Power???

sup everyone... I had one more question before decideing which Nitrous kit to actually buy and install. Will N20 cause extreme wear and tear on the transmission (especially if it is an automatic), differental, or any other part in the car? I'm guessing that there would be alot of power going into the shifts, and am hoping that in an automatic that increase in power will not screw up the gears. Thanks in advance.

Well, i believe it's going to obviously cause a bit more wear/tear just like any other FI... but nitrous isn't on all the time like a supercharger would be, or turbo most of the time... u control it, i mean if u use it like everyday, or several times in a short period, i think it can mess it up, i'm not certain though, this is just wut i've heard... Oh, one thing i am fairly certain of though is that the stock 325i/525i transmission's can't handle extreme amounts of power, like that coming from FI...

nitrous isnt FI dude, its a chemical reaction in your engine, not forced air.
anyways, it depends on what kind of kit, what knd of shot, and how often you use it. as already mentioned, the non M cars will have some issues with N20 and auto tranny. but if you dont blaze 20 times a day you should have an engine that'll last a little less than usual.

I kinow that when I installed a 75hp shot in my car, the clutch could not handle the extra power... It ran fine through the 1st bottle I tried with 75hp shot. Then during the secound bottle my clutch started slipping when it was activated

. So today I went back down to the 65hp shot that I was running before and now it works perfectly fine.

I have an automatic tranny and would like to use Nitrous. The tranny has 147K on it but stil feels solid. I just changed the fluid recently and it shifts fine. What kind of Nitrous should I run so that my tranny wont fail on the first bottle? I wouldn't use it often. Maybe once a week at most. How much would the whole unit cost?

I am not certain about an automatic..mine is a 5-speed. However I paid $500 for my kit from ZEX. If I had an automatic with that many miles I would only run a 55hp shot. I think I also heard you might have to get a new program for your automatic to handle the extra horses by changing shift points and stuff....but I could be very wrong.
