$31,794.00 for an AA turbo for an M coupe? WTF! Someone want to explain this?

http://www.activeautowerke.com/turbo/OBD2-MZ3Turbo.asp

Someone want to explain why AA is charging $31,000 for their turbo kit for an M coupe when they charge only $10,900 for an E36 M3 3.2 OBDII. It's the same damn engine!

Sure you have less room to work with in a M coupe engine bay, and you may need to re-work some piping, but that doesn't justify the $20,000 difference.

Maybe I'm tripping? The $10,900 price for the E36 kit does include installation and transportation too right?

I'm not ripping on AA. I love their stuff but I can't believe they are charging $30,000+ for a turbo system!

The OBD2 kit does not include transportation or installation, thats just the kit price.

The reason the price is so high is because they are talking about how much they spent on the whole car, kit, installation, transportation,
tranny work, LSD, suspension, brakes, minor motor work. Im pretty sure it all adds up, includes everything and cost of parts and labor

From what I can tell, the M3 kit is different than the $31,000 M Coupe turbo kit. The $31,000 Coupe makes 430+ horsepower. Their OBD I M3 kit lists 360 HP. Also, keep in in mind the Coupe is OBDII and the M3 3.0 is OBD I. OBD II is much trickier to work with.

Actually I believe the two engines are different. If I recall correctly the BMW M Roadster and M Coupe engines are totally different from any other engines in the BMW family. They just happen to have the same displacement as the M3s. Can anyone verify/deny this? I can't remember.

As nice as AA Turbo kits are and how cool it is to have a fast as hell bimmer, I have to say I would rather keep my M Coupe the way it is and just buy a used Supra TT. Put aprox $1500 into it and have more hp than that, and STILL spend less. I mean come on, doesn't that just sound a little bit insane to you guys? It sure does to me.

Not a knock on AA (I want a AA turbo someday), but daaaaaym that is alot of money...

Joey actually didn't read Lukes post right, Luke was talking about an OBDII E36 M3 (price is $10,400), and an OBDII M coupe ($31,794) there is a $20,000 difference, maybe you should read

What is expensive to you may not be expensive to others, remember that.

Joey read it properly. Luke didn't read the site he was posting from.

BTW... you have your pre-banning warning now.
