| My car has a loud rattling sound coming from the front of the engine, at the top, from about 1500-1800 rpm. Above or below that everything is fine. I would put my money on the Vanos, but I wanted to get some feedback here before I make my next move. Has anyone here replaced this themselves? How difficult is it? Reading in my Bentley manual it doesn't look too bad, but I don't have the special tools they recommend. Has anyone had this replaced? How much for parts and labor? If it's not the Vanos, what else could it be? Thanks. |

| Well, everything changed this morning. For some reason I decided to check the coolant level....and it's a good thing I did. Found a nice mixture of oil and coolant in the reservoir bottle, so it's off to the dealer tomorrow for repair anyway. My first trip to the dealer... ever. I've always done everything my self on the mustang, and I could probably do it here, but I'm traveling a fair amount for work right now, so I don't have the time to mess with it. Sucks too, because for what I'm going to pay for this I could get my coilovers. ![]() |
