Speaking of Turbos, I have a M42 and was wondering where I would find a good turbo for my engine as well.

yes you can turbo your car, www.kormanfastbmw.com has turbo kits for m20b25's they run about $5,000 dont expect alot of reliability from your engine after, every turboed m20 I've ever read about has had nightmarish issues with the poor overstressed headgasket...

currently there are no forced induction kits offered for the 318is but you can possibly supercharge it via the Downing Atlanta kit for the E36 cars...but it takes a large amount of work to retrofit this system.

Is the headgasket the only major issue with a turboed m20? Couldn't you get some sort of 'high performance' headgasket or something?

bad idea to be turboing an engine that is 11+ years old and has 1XX,XXX miles on it.... a better performance mod would be a m50 swap... less than half the price and you get a new frickin motor

You can get a M50 at Aurora Autowrecking. They quoted me around 1100 for the engine and about 750 or so for the tranny. You would get about 180hp stock and it would add 80lbs.

Sure you only get a low ammount of HP gain from a stock M50 but they respond to mods like chips, intakes, exhausts, cams, etc. a lot better than M20s and turbo/supercharging kits are available in abundance for those engines.
