Turbos on 5-series?

Does anyone know if a 5-series (including M5) has a turbo or twin-turbo package. I only come across superchargers.

I don't think in the states. You would have to check the UK version of Maxpower and Performance BMW. You would have to make a custom set-up I suppose. Maybe some company in the States is working on it.

is working on a turbo kit for his 528 (formerly SC'd) - the exhaust manifold will be manufactured and the kit will be available once testing is complete from what I understand.

that dude with the fastest M3 has a Twin Turbo S38 DOHC M5 Motor.

is the s38 engine an inline-6? I should have limited the question to V-8s.

A turbo system would be too complex to build since the E39's engine bay is very limited in space with a V8 engine. The ideal setup would be a screw kompressor, like the upcoming AMG Kompressor cars...but the M5's compression ratio, limits the amount of boost one can safely run on pump fuel. Better off just building the motor naturally aspirated.

I doubt the auto tranny can take that much power when accelerate...
maybe a 6 spd tranny will work...

I dont like to divulge secrets, but my friend and I (his dad has a 540) have discussed ad nauseam about how it would be very feasible to put an eaton blower on that car with relative ease. If you got the money and the time, you could send that puppy up north for some SC lovin.
