CA legal turbo?

Is Mechtech the only leagal turbo in california? Or is that illigal too. I cant find it on their website.

Mechtech seems to be the only legal turbo in CA.
But there are people here with turbo from other tuners.
Just make sure that you have some good buddies at the smog station if you decide to go with forced induction.

Man, I say screw the legalities. Get a front bumper where you can throw the intercooler in and cover it up with something by Grillcraft, hide your boost gauge, and refuse to pop your hood for cops (they need a search warrant). If you're worried about smog, befriend a mechanic and pay him to "pass" you. Then again... I could just be a BIT rebellious...

Stay the **** away from MechTech...I have been through hell with that place.

It IS legal even though they technically are running illegally by changing the computer software.

I have the AA and have no problems passing smog

I love the kit, have no problems, and
its pretty fast for a 325i, smoked an ML55 the other night

How come no one likes mechtech? If they are the only legal turbo for California wouldnt more people go to them? Their turbo system looks like its $4995 off a brochure from jim powells website. doesnt that price put it on par with the price of the ess supercharger?

Brad, I know you've had problem with their software, but how is the hardware? Would it be cost effective to have it tuned elsewhere? Just need your advice.
