Corky Bell's book will tell you alot about turbocharging in general, but not alot about BMW specifics.
1) LOW PSI-No worries..you may be able to run stock timing maps..most turbocharging places don't modify timing maps for 4-5psi. If you DO need to modify timing maps, Split Second makes an excellent timing controller for OBD 1 and 2 cars that allows boost specific timing map control.
2) Fuel- You could get by with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator at this boost rate. (Vortech makes a nice one.) Just make sure you are dumping in enough fuel..shouldn't be a problem at low boost levels.
3) HFM Clamping- Your HFM is going to max out at 5 volts when you apply boost to the air stream. (Depending on how much boost you plan on running..) If you DO max out the HFM this is where you start running into problems, and the computer CUTS fuel instead of supplying more. You will need a Clamp (like the HKS unit) to prevent this from happening.
4) Blow by or suck through? You need to decide if you are blowing through the HFM (like my setup) or if you are going to suck through it...Blow through for emissions reasons..otherwise suck through..Suck through will require that you Blow Off back into the system rather than to atmosphere...
All I could think of right now..pretty sick...sorry.
