| First impressions of my stage 2 turbo Hey Guys, Most of you know I just took possession of my M3. Let me tell you this car is very very fast. On the first day I raced my friends 2002 M3. I completely turn off my boost controller and raced him. I was able to stay one car in front of him until I hit 5, at that time he started to pass me. I race him about 4 times with the boost controller off. I told him I had to go so he wanted to race me one more time so I said yes this time I ran him on full boost. I pulled like 8 cars in front of him before I put on the brakes. He was speechless. I am telling you this shit get better. On the way home I ran in to a guy in a zo6 he kept picking on me so I punch it and stayed 2 cars in front of him. I get to the next light and we start talking, he was really cool and said that he has never lost and wanted to run again. So I said sure we took off and were even. he pulled a half a car in front of me then I miss third and he pull about 3 cars. I found third and started to catch him real slow but we both let up before I caught him. He then told me he had 385hp and not 405hp. I can't believe how hard this car pulls. Well, to night coming down route one I run it to another z06 he kept down shifting and pulling in front of me. I am saying to my self that is a real fast car it looks much faster than the other z06. Well we pull up to a light and I tell him I would race him but not on route one. I say lets go to 32 he says "what, I will smoke you" I tell him to follow me to 32 he does and I punch it right when I get on 32 I stay about two cars in front of him and then slow down. He say lets run again we do it 3 more times and I beat him by 2 cars each time. He says "I have 420hp what the **** do you have in there? I just smile and say a 6 cylinder. He just rolled up his widow and kept going. After that race I say no more and turn off my boost controller. Right before I get home I see silver e46m3 he spins wheels so I chase after him. As he is merging on to 32 he leaves me, there is no way I could keep up damm I never knew those cars handle like that. Well, I go chase him down and he steps on his brake and waits for me. I finally catch up and we punch it together, Damm this guys starts to walk away from me again. I am like what the ****. I tell him let do it again and the same thing happens he walks away from me real slowly. I give him the thumbs up and say one more time he says "take off when you are ready" This time I manage to barely stay in front of him then he started walking me again. I said oh well I can beat a z06 but for the life of me I can't beat this e46 M3. Well we both exit and I tell him good race and give him his props. Well as I am driving home defeated. I am thinking maybe turbos also suffer from heat soak, Like my old supercharger, Maybe racing that vette brought on this heat soak. Oh well, then I notice I was only making 6 lbs. I say oh shit I have only had my car one day and something is wrong with it already. I open my glove box and notice that the boost controller was off. I turn it on and push the high boast and floored it. That boost hit so hard it brought a smile to my face. I love this car. Everything you guys have heard about AA is true. They did a excellent job on my car. Hey to the guy in the Silver E46 M3. Tonight was your lucky night. If you are a member on this board it was nice meeting you. -Alaric Last edited by ledlum : 03-25-2002 at 09:10 PM. |

| since the turbo has gases flowing through it all the time, it still makes boost, in this case 6 psi. |

| i heard lots of horror stories about AA (ok, only one) and its about the pricing if you dont mind me asking, how much does it all come out to when its all said and done?

| Congrats Dude!!!!! Im glad you got it and its all what I told you it was going to be. I never turn off the boost unless its raining or my girlfriend is driving. Shes scared of the damn thing. Noone knows how lethal these cars are. They think Im full of crap when I try to explain to them what it can do. But I cant explain but so much. The 6 pounds feels like the Mechtech when it was on the car before I replaced it with the AA. You need to enjoy it, learn all that it can do first. It can be unpredictable at times but you will know all about it after a few months. Rey I will be in Miami very soon to get that extra 140 HP to the rear wheels .

| ledlum, i was the guy in the silver e46 m3. it was a good race!!! after i got onto snowden, i noticed that you made a u-turn.....i figured the race was on so i clicked off the DSC and put it in S6 mode. the reason i was able to take the on-ramp to 32 so fast is because i road-race. actually i could've gone faster if i pushed the car but i haven't taken this car to the track yet so i was a little unsure about the limits. anyway, i was real surprised to see a e36 keep up with me so i assumed you had a turbo of some sort. i was shifting at 8000rpm each gear just to stay in front. i think being able to shift in 80ms helped me a little because the car would actually lunge forward a little each shift. that was the first race in my new car, and it was a blast.....apologies to others driving on 32. on the last run i was at 7500rpm in 5th gear so we must've been doing about 140 or so. drag racing is fun but road-racing is truly a blast. you should try it sometime. you'll be amazed at how fast you can take turns after a couple of driving schools. |

Now that I have raced some very fast cars and beat them. I am satisfied. All those people that doubted you, just don't know what these cars can do. I love my life, girlfriend and family so I don't think I will be going all out like I did on that last z06. I was thinking maybe I don't need up grade my suspension yet. (wrong!!!) I am getting full racing suspension and VERY BIG BRAKES) I know some of you think that those stories were great but I am a very down to earth person What I did tonight was not very smart. I won but not very smart. I am just so glad that my baby is in the garage and I can sit in front of my computer and share with you guys my experience. THAT CAR SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME. I have own some very fast cars in the pass but for some reason this car is different I can’t put my finger on it right now. But some of my cars were dyno queens and did not feel like this car pulls. You can have that 140 hp, I am scuuuuurd![]() |
