944 turbos

Has anyone had any experince with these? They can be very fast with some work.

Check this one out before you pass judgment.

the 924/928/944/968 family is a great bunch of cars. fast, luxurious, good handlers. parts might be kinda expensive now since the whole line is out of production, but it's a given. my friend had a '91 944 S2, that thing was one bad mamajama. he had a done up 2.5l turbo motor, that thing absolutely flew!

they're good cars, but shitty porsches. just my opinion, if it says porsche on the hood, the engine better be in the back. the front engined water cooled GT cars porsche built were more motivated by vw execs, in order to help the company sell lots of cars and make some money. and in all fairness, they did make money with these cars, but they did decide to ditch them after 20 or so yrs and continue building real porsches.

Finnaly the topic for me.

I have had my turbo just about a year now, and I can say these cars have a ton of potential. I started at 217 hp and a very stock car. I'm sitting at around 315 now and I have not messed with the motor other than chips, intake, exhaust, and a little bit of a boost increace.

I bet you that my car will handle with just about anything on this board, a lofty claim, but I have a trick suspesnion underneath and the 50/50 wieght balance doesn't hurt either. Custom built struts and hypercoil springs, upgraded sway bars and new busing with a nice set of meaty tires to complete the package. Alex Mc has seen most of the supsenion and can vouch for it.

These cars come from the factory w/ good maybe great brakes, but you can go to the Porsche parts bin to get and easy up grade. Big Reds fit w/ 17 inch wheels, and GT3 rotors and brakes fit w/ 18's.

These cars are cheap to be had and because of the turbo set up you can get a lot of hp out of the 2.5L motor, or if you ahve cash you can crank it up to a 3.0L and eat just about anything on the road. I know of one of these cars that hit 199 mph only to bounce of the rev limiter.

The biggest draw back of these cars: Parts. Parts and labor are very expensive, so you had better have a good wrench man or be one yourself.

Ok I have thrown out a lot of random info on these cars, ask me question if you want, but if I don't know it off hand I will find out.

Shit yeah i can, he dropped $3g's on some nasty LEDA coilovers from Germany.. that thing is rock stiff, and light. Plus the roll bar, etc and the nice R compounds

Yep, got to love the Turbo's capability, the problem is I run out to steam in the upper rpms. This is why I need a different turbo, w/ a diffent turbo and a new AFM I should be able to get about 350 to the wheels at 18 psi.

And no it is not photoshopped, I got bored and paint the wheels with my R compounds on them.
