| rule of thumb for boosting on most bmw 6 cyl (except e46 m3 s52).. 8 psi at see level and 12 psi at mile high. ebay kits seem to do the job but most of the exhaust manifolds tend to crack (thin walled piping) cast manifold best way to go especially to hold the heat in better til it gets to the turbo. ebay kits tend to take modifing so if you dont have the ability to do so get a specific name brand kit(spa turbos, etc.), after install tuning is you next step, 96 pound injectors i perfer for 3.0 and 3.2 s50/s52 (reguardless it better to go bigger than taking the chance you will run too lean since thats what will blow up your engine), piggy back tuners work and are cheaper just wont tune to the best it could be(normally only tunes fuel when you need fuel and timing like the standalone dose). the more expensive stand alone dose the job you are looking for no matter what boost (aem) it comes with a software program cd which 99% of tuner shops can operate. for the clutch question active auto werks has a reasonible priced light weight flywheel that help bring up your revs to start to spool your turbos faster (in non turbo cars you tend to loose bottom end torque with a light weight)
Last thing, normally namebrand kits/tuners wont just sell you there software for there turbo/super charger kits enless you buy the whole kit directly from them which comes from their software. I have called around and found active auto werks will burn you a base map for you type of turbo (obd 1) chip with 3 free re-flashes for a cost that is around the cost of a stand alone dme. just depends on your resources you have to help you tune or how big your pockets are...
