Are they a rip off or is it legit. I was thinking about getting a downing atlanta supercharger, but if this is legit then i would pick this up for my 318i just as a temp. supercharger. with a cold air intake and chip. I was looking at the e-RAM electrical s/c and it is guaranteed. What do you guys think.

Save your money they don't work. If anything it is going to restrict air flow and give you less hp.

Dude, seriously.

Anyways, theres a vid going around (quite old), where somebody plumbed a gas powered blower into the intake and they gained like 10 HP, then shot nitrous into the blower's intake grill and gained 50HP (poor mans dry shot). If a 200mph+ gas powered blower didn't gain shit (10HP ain't shit, your sucessive dyno pulls can vary that much), how the hell will a little $25 12v bilge blower do anything. Compressing air isn't easy, a typical centrifugal compressor takes ~50HP to turn fast enough to create 8psi.

Depends on your definition of affordable. Not much out there for the 318 in kit form unless your planning on dropping in an M50 ect. The M43 isn't exactly what I would consider a good foundation for healthy HP numbers.

well its an m44 engine but whats an m5O swap i've been trying to find stuff about it but haven't had much luck. what car does the m50 go in and any idea where i could get the engine for a swap.

i was gonna go with a DASC till i found out the other day that they are no longer in the supercharger business.

M4x is the 4-cylinder engine, M5x/S5x is the inline 6 engines.

It's been dynoed before. Proven to give a loss of 7hp. This is another gimmick, like turbonators.

Bottom line here is that power is not always affordable. I've known people who build custom turbo kits for 318is and get decent power numbers. You really just need to explore all of your options when it comes to upgrading your car. Websites like the one you posted are just worthless because the "are too good to be true" Supercharger systems with install and tuning time will run into the 8k dollar range or higher. Go to performance shops near you and talk to them about what you want to do. Most are willing to take a look at your car and give you estimates for cost and power numbers with different options. Save your money and take time on your build. It is very rare that a sweet performance car is built overnight because lets be honest, not all of us have an unlimited budget.

it looks like you are looking for a supercharger, it just happen that i have one off of my 328 it a vortech v2 it put out 6 psi. My car stock was about 190hp with the supersharger on it put out about 330hp . I have all the mounting brackets and all the air tubing and pulleys you would need .
