T4 turbo

What's up peoples I have a 86 E30 that I'm really feelin right now thanks to alot of you fellow owners. I have a friend that's going to sell me a T4 turbo but I have to get the set up kit to install. What i need to know is what kind of preparation will I need to do to the motor before installing? and where could i find a setup kit for my application? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many different questions have to be anwsered by you before even begining. Such as what are your power goals, have you done a compression test, what is your budget?

To be honest i have a low budget and no I haven't done the compression test. To be real the turbo was coming to me at for 400. Sounds like a steal. Really 350 - 425 horses is what I'm looking for. Is that reasonable or close for about 4500 invested right? Dude I know I'm crazy wet behind the ears definitly a newbie. But I'm serious about this car so I'll give the girl my all you know. Holla at me

Also with my 2.7 would the power be greater with the turbo on a i Head or stock head?

Well $4500 is definitely a good start. And 300-350 hp at the wheels isn't far out of reach. The labor is probably going to be your biggest problem. Do you know who's doing the work?

I'm not sure who makes an e30 turbo manifold out of the box. Someone else might chime in that knows. You may have to go custom which is very expensive.

1) what AR is this T4?
2) DUDE, with a T4 your going to need quite a bit.
3) TCD makes a mani. Or a simple Ebay mani will work if you brace it.
Depending on the size of that T4, it is probably not going to be a very good setup on a low budget. If this is the honkin divided housing, huge T4.... You best not even attempt to do this with anything less than a stand alone, fully built motor, and more fuel support than Chevron.
The 2.7 is not exactly performances best friend on a budget.
This is my advice....
Take that 4500, and throw the stock motor in a river. Throw in a m50 or m52, and you have a real platform for real performance. That is just my advice. I had a E30 with a good amount of work done, ran quite well. But unless you know that motor really well, you will have a hard time extracting good power out of it.
