| Whats better turbo or supercharger I was looking at both tubos and a supercharger for 95 M3 and I wanted to know what is better for a car that was going to do daily diving and a bit of racing, what’s better supercharger or a turbo? |

| I was looking for around 350 BHP and the possibility of upgrad to no more then 450. Some of the stuff that Active has looks good, but before i went out and got something. The car would be mostly for road use but it would see some track. I had a WRX and i liked the turbo, but most bimmers seem to be running superchargersand so i was curious. |

| I recommend supercharger for the track....linear power band. Add a 3.46 LSD and call it a day...would move like a bat out of hell!

| 350-450 would be a good range for a middle sized turbocharger. Awesome spoolup on a 6 cylinder, with room to upgrade till your wallets content.

| You could hit your goal with either one, it really depends on what you like more. Relatively speaking, superchargers give you more power lower in the rpm range than turbos do. Which, either way, each has its ups and downs. With the turbo, normal daily driving wouldn't get you into boost (hence using less gas), or if it did, it'd be low boost, maybe 2 lbs or so, but like BMW Maniac mentioned, superchargers have a more linear powerband than turbos, so a supercharger would feel more like a stock car, where with a turbo, you hit full boost at say 3,500 rpms, and you just go flying. Also, superchargers rob power from the engine to produce power, but on anything bigger than a 4 banger, that really doesn't matter as much. Really, it also depends on what size turbo you get, and how well you have it tuned. And to me, it sounds like you'd be using it for daily driving more often than track driving, if that's right, I would recommend the turbo. Personally, I would rather have a turbocharged bimmer. Superchargers may give you more low-end power, but nothing beats the sound of a turbo spooling up, and then the PPPHHHSSSSSTTTT! of the bov when you shift ![]()

| It looks like most of the cars racing use will be auto-cross or drift and i want those low RPM's, but I too love the "PPPHHHSSSSSTTTT" that comes with a shift on turbo cars. I also like the sound of 5,500 for a turbo kit, what kind of power does it put out? |

| Hey, guys Just wanna introduce myself. Im really new in this forum. Just signed up today. I just got a 95 m3. I'd like to get input on the m3's, meet good ppl and learn the capabilties of the bimmer. I have been a DSM & EVO guy for along time. I had lots of fun with my evo. (690Hp & 525tq.) but it was time for a euro change in my life. I use 2 own a bimmer when I was stationed in Germany. If you guys can walk me through and educate more on these cars. It would be HIGHLY appreciated. Sorry if I cut anyone off.... Nice 2 meet all you guys. Thanks, DRFTm3 |

| Turbo Kit Sorry for the delayed reply back.... I perfer Turbo..... I overall like the power a turbo gives. I drft, but I also drag my car.... I have a crap load of money in just suspension wk on my 95 m3. Right now is set for track and drft. But i kinda want an affordable decent sized turbo. My mods to the engine bay are: 24lbs. injectors, AA tuned computer, Underdrive pulleys, Aluminum radiator, manifold back exhaust by AA, AA cold air intake and just purchased a F1 racing 6 puck sprung clutch kit w/ 16lbs. Prolite flywheel. I dont really wanna spend more than $5k on turbo kit. |
