boosting a bmw 325...need to know the max

hey guys i am not a new guy when it comes to turbos...but i am when it comes to BMW turbo....i was wondering how much boost the 2.5l bmw 325i engine can take....so whats the max hp that these engines have seen with a stock block. i have heard they have hit 500-600 but its hard to believe...anybody know where i can find some boosted 325 parts lists with horsepower numbers? or where i can talk to someone that has turbocharged one of these cars. just wanted to know the max hp these engines can put out...not daily driven...with all the rite parts thanks

OK, first thing is first lol. You never specified what turbo you will be using, which makes a large impact on your potential. But even more important is what you will be using to tune your motor. With a good tune 500 is defintely doable. These motors have high compression so good gas, and a good tune is absolutly needed.

ok the site said [u]DTM[u] power not DSM and the man simply asked a question no need to say dumb comments any ways im getting ready to inexpensively boost my daily driver and will only be running 6 to 8psi on my pretty stock 2.7l (i have a spare motor that im buildingfor big boost on the side for when i do blow this one) and stock the 9.0:1 comp ratio(84-87m20 1988 m20 is 8.5:1) is fine for that small amount of psi but i also redline at 6000 now you have a 2.5 which though smaller in displacment makes more power due to its higher compression ration i believe stock they are 9.7:1 and i forget what year but i believe later engines are 8.8:1 but dont quote me i prefer the m20b27 over the m20b25 i would recomend possible pistons to bring the comp ratio down a bit and possibly an m20b23 crank from a 323i or something the amount of pressure on the head studs of an m20 is pretty evenly distributed but in any turbo ap get new ones treated if you can aford them and maybe an extra 3 pounds of pressure when you re torgue the head studs also a thicker head gasket could help but be careful ive had problems blowing them before on my other force fed cars thinking that would be a quick answer sorry i babbled hope i was helpful in some way in either case have fun and good luck

i just looked around abit and i see average claims of 265 to the wheels at 10psi on stock 2.5 blocks but i would be safer and run 8 psi expecting to make slightly less but would compensate with a maf conversion from vaf they are to restrictive and also ofcourse fuel pump injectors and open up that exhaust a bit but not to much you need back pressure for that things to spool right

Holy shit! Thanks for clearing that up! I thought this was a DSM website!

Last time I checked I [i]did/I] own a BMW a few years back...and the weird thing is, that's when I joined this forum! Holy cow! Crazy, huh? I guess BMW owners are the only people allowed on this website?

Anyway, the reason I said what I said is because the guy didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about, hence my remark. Also, he only has one post, this is it, and it was posted almost a month ago. Sounds like a newb just coming around asking questions about something he's never going to do, but claiming that he knows a lot about it. Sorry, I just get tired of people doing this. Don't come into a forum pretending to know shit, when you obviously don't. Everyone seems to want to start off buying their BMW and then going F/I. Sorry, but that doesn't happen very often. Unless you're doing the labor yourself and can build your own turbo kit, its gonna be expensive...and that's just the price of the turbo kit/materials, not to mention the car itself!

I know you've been here for an entire month and all, but these kinds of posts happen all the time...not that its a bad thing to ask questions, just don't ask dumb questions.

E30, dont come here bashing members lol. 92318 is a very knowledgable member, and has been here some time. He contributes to post, and does what we are supposed to do. Dont come here talking shit just because there is a DSM in the picture. Just because everyone doesnt own a damn BMW doesnt mean we are lesser people.
Too many times I see new members talking down on others, and dont even take time to read their posts to make sure they even make sense. Dont type in fragments....
Its not fun to be bashed, right?

It's cool, it does suck how sarcasm/friendly banter can't be translated too well over the internet. Sorry to jump on your case like that, but like itsabimmerthing and I said, it seems to happen a lot...people coming in a bashing other members for no apparent reason. But no harm done

Well it seems the OP has never responded to this topic, and I gave him a decent teaser on power potential. We will just have to see what happens next?
Its all good man, just be careful what you say when you are new lol. That can land you in some shit on a big forum like this. Its all good.

Yeah, I was thinking about this, and it reminded me of a post some moron started about a year ago.

In a great situation to perform a rare upgrade, but I need help...

I try to tell him some of my own personal experiences with what he's trying to do, and he just goes totally nuts on me...Notice how I became a member two years before him, I am still here, and he no longer posts here That's what happens when you come into this forum as a newbie and are an asshole

Not that I'm calling you an asshole, it was cool of you to appologize, I appreciate it
