with the ebay turbo kits id have to ask what is so bad about them i understand they are a generic t3/t4 and cheap plumbing but it is a start i have thought about getting one for my daily driver and tightening up what ever loose ends but im wondering since i havent boosted an m20 of my own for daily use if i only run 6 to 8 pounds what computer mods or timing modification is absolutely nescessary regardless if i use this kit or another do i have to adjust the timing i already plan on getting a better fuel pump and injectors

The biggest thing I hear about ebay turbo kits is the welding done on manifolds and things like that. I hear they just aren't done very well, and come apart relatively easily. I don't know from first hand experience, but that's what I read in most posts related to ebay turbo kits/parts. I would say the best thing to do is look into the company, and post it in a few car forums to see if anyone may have purchased that particular kit from that particular seller to see if they were satisfied or not.

92318, that is correct. Most of the exhaust manny welds arent very good. They can be braced and used, but I wouldnt use this kit too long. Use it for a while, and upgrade peice by peice.

I was waiting for your opinion, itsabimmerthing I don't have much experience beyond what I've dealt with myself, and ebay turbo kits aren't one of them

Yea, defintely understandable.
I used the ebay 16g, and it worked well. It was a old XS unit, and I could have been one of the lucky ones, but the turbo never failed as much as I beat it. Good enough for 13.7 with 16psi on a pump gas TSi.

Nice I didn't know that Megan Racing started on ebay, I actually looked at a lot of their products when deciding on some parts for my car a couple of years ago.

Yea, they were just a small company. I had their downpipe on my car. Great quality, and perfect fitment. There are alot of great ebay products. It is just about weeding through the weak. I loved my knock off turbo XS BOV. Worked well, and sounded pretty bad ass.

i love this site you guys are actuallly helpful i do like the upgrade piece by piece idea it was in my head any ways but if it even comes down to it i could always fix welds my self but would not want to end up letting it happen to often before replacement provided my money is right but i still wonder if i only ran between 6 to 8 pounds would it still be necessary to retard the timing or make ecu adjustment or could i pretty much be safe with possibly better injectors and a few small tweaks i have turboed a few cars before without need of timing adjustment (87 iroc with tpi and 86 pontiac fiero gt that one blew up quick we knew that was coming at 190k on the odo though but it was fun for a weekend) but they were just experiments to see if i could do it or not but i have not boosted a 2.7 yet so im a little in the dark i also did my friends daily driven civic with no timing adjustments he runs 7 psi it holds up every day we installed aem adj cam gears and retard 1 degree at the track and turn the boost to 11 psi still only good for 14.6 at best (him driving not me) so like i said 8 pounds max on my 2.7 do i have to mess with the timing before i get ready to dive into this next project thanks guys

I'm not sure about BMW's. I didn't have my eclipse tuned at all and it still had the 20g, fmic, and injectors for about a year. It's definitly not good for the engine, no matter what boost you're running, but I don't know how bad it actually is. I would assume on a more high-strung motor like a bimmer's motor it would be worse though. Although the smaller the displacement of the motor, most likely it isn't as bad on it...
Itsabimmerthing, do you know?

Personally, I feel a good tune is always needed. For 7-9psi, it could differ based on his turbo. You could get by with just a little retarted timing maybe. Many people just run black boxes and call it a day. I would eventually get a professional tune, either VIA emanage, haltech, or TEC3R.
