| Here is a link to the 951 forum over on Rennlist: 944 Turbo and Turbo-S Forum - Rennlist Discussion Forums Just in case anyone wanted to read up on the cars. Ironically, I became infatuated with 951s after reading a "kill story" on a BMW forum about a 951 smoking an M3. I later found out that 951 had 480whp.

| Very true, but the reality is that 951s are much older, and therefore much less reliable when built. 951s are excellent cars, but unmolested or good examples are about as hard to find as a woman who isnt bipolar.

| bmw turbo all the way. you blow up your porsche turbo motor and you are fawked. You'll be dipping deep into those pockets to get a replacement. blow your bmw motor and another m50 is waiting for you at the junkyard. They are all over the place the these yards. At the socal yards I see about three every time I visit. as far as reliability goes you can piece together a turbo kit yourself with no real problem, and in doing so save yourself soo much money. You may need someone to weld up some charge pipes, and a downpipe, but that is all. Reliability comes into play in turns of tuning. get a chip for the setup that you have and you'll be golden, or megasquirt |

| I'm like fairweather, every time I see a post by it'sabimmerthing it's usually the blunt truth or something I agree on. But about the Porsche man, we just had one in the shop last week and do you know what it calls for do replace a thermostat??? 8 hours!!!!!! Multiply that by $50/hr and see how ya like em then. I believe your looking at the present and not far enough into the future, bottom line is the BMW is a better car, will last longer, and won't leave your butt feeling sore after taking it to the shop cause it blew the headgasket! I'm not hatin, just practical. |

>92 M50 is one of the best and strongest engine oem from BMW to force with air ,, easy 500 bhp,, on a standard engine ,and they are allover true !! Porsche engines cost a arm to rebuild ,, but the M50 not you can get a serious powerful Porsche TURBO that a turbo BMW can not follow,, even in a straight line ,, Porsche is a heavy duty oem bullitproof ,, and a semi race car,, very reliable from factory,, and the Porsche cost €€€€€€€€/$$$$$$$$$ vs the BMW |

| I can imagine that BMWs front engine design would have better air flow for turbo setups than, say, porche for example
