| Vortech boost vs pulleys. Now on forged M20B27 @ more than 20psi Hi! I found this forum in my searching for info about supercharging M20B25 with a Vortech CF charger. so...My car is a light trackracing modified E30 325i -87 with upgrades in the chassie, brakes and so on. Now i want more power then the 200 naturally aspired horses. The engine mods are: ![]() Rebuilt cylinder head with fullradie seats, and some new valves, lightly ported. 284° Dr Schrick cam 535i throttlebody Stainless headers and 100cell racecat, 2,5" pipe all the way out. DTA E48 ecu with MAP-sensor Iīm getting: Welding between cooling channels in cylinderhead for better stability and holding of headgasket. ARP bolts 450cc injectors Innovate LM1 wideband lambda Intercooler Now i have brought a used Vortech V-5 G-trim charger through eBay. Now i am aiming to charge it with 1,2bar (17,4psi) @ 7000rpm to get approx 300-350 engine hp out. I donīt se many charge that much? Is it big problems or what? But the G-trim charger has a maxlimit of 25psi... so 17,4 must work, right? And if i look at the compressormap it looks just right for my engine. The max aerobatic efficiency of the charger is 73%, and i will be around that area throu my revs. Just out in 70% area at 6000-7000rpm and the sub 3500 revs i think.... Its just theoretical. So what do you think about that? Does anyone know what kind of pulley i can use without beltslip-problems? Is 8 or 10-rib good enough or is the cogbelt the only way to go? (Sorry for my bad english) ![]() Edit: Someone must have something to say about this.. I know you Americans know stuff about superchargers ![]() Last edited by Nisse977 : 10-01-2008 at 04:47 AM. |

| Hi again! I did nog get any answer on my last post, but now i have more things done to my car. The new stuff is: * Cp forged pistons 84,50mm * H-beem rods * Crankshaft from M21 diesel to get longer stroke = 2,7 litre * O-ring engineblock * Enem Z45 forced induction cam 280/280 and 11mm lift * Harder valvesprings to cope with 7500rpm * 846cc highohm Siemens injectors * Run on Bioetanol ( E85 with about 104 octane ) * Dual Bosch 984 fuelpumps * ZF gearbox and transaxle from M3 e36 * Big e30 diff with 3,25:1 gearing I have the same supercharger, the Vortech V5 G-trim witch iīm now gona maxout at redline, so i donīt know how much power i will get, but people with turbos boosting 14,5psi on the same setup (E85, 2,7 litre, Z45 cam and so on) get about 500 engine hp. so i hope for somthing like that. I think i will get more than 14,5psi, more like 20+psi or something The charger gives max 25psi..Is there no other project with the M20 engine and a highboost centrifugal charger? I canīt find any on the web...... Last edited by Nisse977 : 10-01-2008 at 04:51 AM. |
