Crankcase Oil Pressure relief????? 97 BMW M3 Turbo Does anyone know what I need to do, to relieve the pressure from the crankcase so that the oil can flow thru the turbo correctly?

Well idon't know about any releif valve, however when i did my turbo i had to install an external oil pump to pump the oil out faster to stop the smoking.

It was smoking now its just idling to low, My Last resort would just be to get an external oil pump as 323boost stated...... this car is kicking my ass but I love it

On a factory Turbo engine there is usually a breather coming from the crank case or somewhere from one of the oil channels on the head or the rocker cover. This breather is just a hole but usually has some baffling to prevent oil travelling through it and is usually plumbed through a hose back into the intake piping somewhere. Often this plumbing back into the intake is removed by people by plumbing it to a catch tank with a mini air filter on it and blocking off the nipple left on the intake or they simply install a sealed catch tank between the crank/head/rocker breather and the intake piping. Now on the S50 it has an oil breather running from the crankcase up through an oil seperater in the intake plenum. So what happens when you turbo the engine if you dont replace the intake plenum? it pressurizes the crank case when on boost, which means the turbo oil isnt going to drain back to the crank too well. If you have replaced the factory intake plenum then the crankcase breather might have been blocked off and therefore heating the oil will pressurize the crank case. You'll probably need to find the factory breather based on the left side of the crankcase and make sure it isnt blocked off or plumbed to the factory plenum and instead is plumbed to a catch can or some form of open air breathing aparatus. And if you have got a proper breather then it may not be large enough.
