Valve Retainers turbo M3

So I have an early 95' M3, which will be turbo soon. Soft valve retainers right? Should I replace them? or will they hold up..

Well im shooting for 400whp with just the 140mm headghasket. Should I put the retainers off until I put the lower compression pistons and rods way down the road when I shoot for 600whp? Or just go ahead and do it for the 400?

Shouldn't spring replacment have to due with what RPM the vehilce will be running at and the amount cam lift will be?

i.e. under 6,800 RPM with stock cams the springs will not reach a frequency that will keep them open causing a valve to float.

It is a slippery slop and the grade is steep. If you do the head work might as well do the bottem end. Have 600HP at RMS and not 600HP at peak.

I'm just replacing the Retainers for now.. I will do the entire valvetrain once I do the lower comp. build. Springs will stay stock for now. Im not planning on doing the 600whp build for more than a year....

call a few shops that race the vehicles and they lead you into the right direction. i.e. VAC, Turner, Bimmer World or what were else.

My oppion: if you are not running the vehicle at a high RPM for a sustained period of time the stock parts will hold. Most ceeper/retainer failer occures due to a floating vlave.

Is there any other real input out there!!!
