Well most of it isn't anyone's fault. There were a couple mistakes on either side but for the most part the issues were two things.
1) it was not known the non-vanos m50 uses different crank trigger and cam trigger wheels than their vanos brethren plus the fact it uses a VR sensor on each end where the OBDI vanos use a VR crank and Hall Effect cam and the OBDII use a VR crank and proximity cam. This cause it to not synch regarding timning so car wouldn't start.
2) some type of gremlin was causing things to burn up. I lost 2 CDI boxes, 2 peak/hold injector boxes and 1 AEM Uego gauge.
All that cost tons and tons of time to deal with. Sending the harness back to Kansas with the CDI, etc. rewire new CDI back in and send back, etc. over and over.
I have to say that Chad (kcevo on Bimmerforums) is very smart, very determined to solve the issue and very good at customer relations. He answers his phone almost every single time I call or he calls me back right away if he doesn't. He could have given up on this but hasn't. Luckily he found someone that has a built m50NV motor with turbo and 1000cc injectors to figure all the trigger wheel and cam sensor issues with. he also has his brother's car which is a turbo M3 with the AEM PnP that he tested my AEM EMS box on and found out the map in it was corrupted.
Everything was overnighted back and is in SFR's hands right now. They are getting the VR cam sensor today and hopefully borrowing a wideband (probably innovative). Hopefully the car will start no issues so they can mildly tune it and I can take it to break the engine in. Been hoping that for months now though so Murphy's Law better hide or I am gonna kick his ass!
